Ings price tag would be heavily based on potential and he was an impressive finisher last season, whereas Long has proven himself to be a sub-standard striker in the Premier League on a regular basis. They should top it off by giving him the number 7.
Ings is a good player. Who has respect for Burnley and wouldn't act a dick. Why try and say he is crap or not good enough?
Wouldn't be thrilled with the signing of Long but if he does come then so be it. I will be cheering him on and giving my support nevertheless.
Ings wouldn't be a guaranteed success but surely it's better to take a chance on a young up and coming player than to buy someone who's consistently proved he's average at best.
We still Currently have our top scorer from last season (yes, injured) and have signed a player who can score goals. The only question for me is if he can do that in the prem. if he can, panic over.
We want £12m. Shane Long is a class act. He could have scored a hat trick last week against Trencin, only an outstanding goal keeping display prevented it. Two shots hit the goalie in the face when on another night they would have scored, he looked as though he could score every time he got in their half. Very, very fast, good in the air, intelligent, runs his socks off and wins penalties.
If it was for nothing, maybe. For a big fee, I'm not sure which way I'd go (using your description rather than the actual players)
People did criticism last season and there were games when he was not up to par, but he of course had plenty of good will in the bank. However everyone acknowledged his overall game as being important to how we played and he was not all about the goals. Long will bring plenty of unglamorous work-rate to the team/sqaud
I fly off the handle for about 5 minutes on here and vent my frustration on here and then take it back when I've calmed down. And that was when we were selling players left right and centre (literally ).
Not close enough to free. Like exactly free I've only been up north once (or more north.) And that was to go to a stag weekend at Whitby!!! 39 years old and only gone across it once. I've been across Vasco Da Gama Bridge in Lisbon close to or more than 100 times
I'd take the Championship's top scorer, who is young with bags of potential, over an ageing Shane Long every day of the week.
I can't believe anyone would disagree. Ings was the best player in the Championship along with a lot of goals.
