He scored the same amount as Long did, bit harsh as he's barely featured in pre season or the Europa League games.

Why are people suggesting Wickham and Deeney? Those two players are completely different strikers to Long, if we were replacing Jelavic I'd understand. Jelavic and Wickham/Deeney up front FFS. Who the f** are we, Stoke? Some players are more important to their respective teams than money. Long is VERY difficult to replace and with four days before the opening game I wouldn't even bother.

Stoke just signed Bojan, they won't have to worry about goals next season, they'll be top half. We'd have to sign somebody pretty special to replace Long.

despite me calling him donkey for a laugh

jelavic is actually the better finisher by far, long is a great player though, his pace, i really can't see a decent replacement coming in, like patches said, jelavic doesn't have the pace, we neeed pace

I know for a fact his wife is very settled in the area, my cousin who works in the club is extremely close with her and they have been away on Holiday to Marbella over the summer. She was just saying last week how glad she was that Shane left WBA and came here, so i guess that wouldn't be a problem. I have tried to contact my cousin in a hope she has some info.

I hope you're right because I'd like him to stay here and we add another striker.

Okay, West Ham then. The point still stands, Jelavic and Wickham/Deeney up front is ridiculous.

Nobody is saying they want him to leave, if they do they don't know much about football. Bruce may be obligated to let Long know if offers are made, if the Southampton one has been made, Bruce has communicated this to Long, maybe Shane has said he'd like the move? Placate his Mrs and we're rewarded well for him having half a season. The only loser in this is Long - as he clearly doesn't wear the trousers and his Mrs for marrying a professional footballer and thinking they could live within a 50 mile radius of Reading for his entire career.

I wouldn't want him to go, but what is the benefit of keeping an unhappy footballer?

I can't see us rushing into a replacement. I think we will see who is available after the europa league qualifier. If we make it through to the groups we will have more pulling power. Ince or Aluko to start with jelly before deadline day. That's if he has gone of course.

Just heard Long is going to Southampton in the hope of securing a move to Liverpool.

Makes me laugh all this talk of getting Remy.

Please!! He would not agree it. For all the reasons stated.

If you're going to steal from Paddy Power, don't leave it word for word.

    I'm in your view.

I'd rather they kept their 12m.

I didn't, someone just texted it to me.

I will make a point of contacting Mr Power though to apologise for the apparent theft of his intellectual property.

    Hugely sorry.
