They could probably get premium fees for every one of our players and imagine how healthy our balance would look. I mean we wouldn't have any players, but that's a small price to pay I reckon.
Not pissy: Forster Tadic Taider A bit pissy: Bertrand So much piss it is going up the wall: Pelle Drowning in piss: Long
looking on the bright side, it won't be long before we've reinvested all the money we received this summer if we're spening 12m on the likes of Long. That should make some people happy.
Really hoping that even if this is true, the £12m breaks down as £7.5m to Hull and £1.5m per year x 3 years to Long. Still a poor signing even then imho, just a little more palatable at that price.
I recall a fair amount of piss about Taider. From the FM bellpieces, natch. Also 10 pages of crying about Bertrand. And a fair amount re:the Forster deal.
I know some of you don't like Cortese ever being heralded as a positive light, but I'm really starting to miss that guy. If Cortese was here, we would not be signing Shane Long. Sorry for mentioning the C word, but it's true. Under Cortese, we had Champions League ambitions. We signed players to reach that goal. Shane Long is a mid-table signing at best. He is not a signing that any team would make if they had sights on the Champions League within the next few years. We are no longer a team aiming for the Champions League. Or at least, not in the forseeable future. Some of you accept this, but I find this slightly hard to take, knowing the direction the club was going until last January. I know Katharina wanted to democratise the board, and Krueger has spoken out about how Cortese's one-man system was unsustainable. Well, unsustainable it may have been, but it was as sure as hell more ambitious as this one. I don't argue with Katharina's decision to spread out responsibilities, but why get rid of Cortese when we are still on the up? If Cortese's system was working, why not keep it? For me, Katharina pushed Cortese out of the club too soon. We were unsustainable, but we could have sustained ourselves until Cortese stopped delivering us ambition and success.
Fingers crossed, I think the fee is really the only issue when you get down to it. He is an upgrade on Mayuka & Isgrove and is likely to compete with Jay Rod when he returns. He is a bit Ormerod, a bit Dirk Kuyt maybe but i've never felt comfortable as a Saints supporter when he's played against us because of that nuisance style.
apart from being a player in a position we are overloaded, i certainly didn't understand that negativity.
There was only one person that I remember who threw a bitch fit about Taider, but then I guess that doesn't support your position of "everyone is a stupid bedwetting drama queen except me"
I think Long would be a good signing - there, I said it. Way too much money for him but I'm confident he will score goals, he'll get good service from Tadic and Ward-Prowse.
My thoughts exactly, we have more quality to surround him than Hull. He will get chances and with a bit of confidence he will take them. Plus, we need someone to play on the shoulder of defenders, someone who offers something different to Pelle.
