Summer 2014 Transfer rumour thread - Part VIII

It's the market. 10M for 8-9 goals, 20M for 16 to 18, above 20M for 20 goals and more.

To be fair, considering last year we've payed 15M for a return of 3 goals, 8 goals for 10M would be a bargain.

 

I wonder if Shane Long and Ahmed Elmohamady are what Cortese had in mind when he commissioned the "OUR DREAM IS REAL" posters? Probably not... probably not.

 

I do hope this Shane Long nonsense is just a bad rumour...and £10m!

What's even more worrying is the fact that despite Lovren looking like leaving for over a month, we haven't got in a new CB and we'll be starting with Yoshida at Anfield. That really is bullshit.

 

Settled or not there's no way we'll let him go for that.

My last post was wrong about what we paid, he cost £7.5m in total after triggering the £1m survival clause. I could see us accepting £10m but there's no way we'd let him go to a league rival and make nothing from it.

 

Hopefully Shane said Hull Tigers is a ****ing stupid idea. Your owner didn't like his views so is selling him cheap.

 

I'm a fan of Shane Long's, and would happily see him part of our matchday squad each week.

But £10m? Someone's got their wires crossed there surely? He's hardly going to smash in 18+ goals per season.

 

Nooooooooo!

 

If anything it's our fault for inflating the market...

 

Simon Peach says that Billy Sharp will be signing for Leeds.

Now, I wonder.....is this going to be part of any potential deal for Sam Byram? According to 'Sky Sources' we put in a 2nd bid for Byram yesterday, maybe that included Sharp exclusivity for Leeds.

I like Shane Long but I've been hoping for more.

 

Like who? Hernandez obvs doesn't fancy it, Ings doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

I dunno, I can't think of anyone off the top of my head. I do like Long though, and if joins the club I will support him. I remember the likes of Beattie coming to a club with not the best scoring rate but was brilliant for us.

 

Beattie was 20 and had played four Premier League games. Shane Long is 27 and has played five Premier League seasons.

 

Beattie was ****e for us in the first 2 seasons. I thought he was crap and he did nothing for us. Then he suddenly improved, drugs?

 

Who would you prefer that's available?

 

I would have a look at Remy. Shame about his huge wages but I think he's a quality player.

 

Danny Ings. The only reason we're not getting him is his price, and if we're willing to spend £10m on Long then I don't see why we'd not throw on a couple more million for Ings.
