Probably the end of the whole Ings chase if we do sign Long though, which is a big shame. Maybe next year? If he has a good season in the PL he'll be off somewhere bigger though I'm sure.

 

£10m for Shane Long screams desperation market. Hell, Shane Long in general does, because he's made his career out of being okay-at-best for relegation battling sides. At least it's funny.

 

Unpopular opinion but I actually like Long. He's totally different to Pelle, he works hard and also chips in with 8/9 goals a season.

 

Also, we can now look forward to a season of lumping the ball to Pelle in the hopes that he can control it somewhere in the general direction of Long's runs.

 

Very good player is long, I'd be gutted to lose him, a big part of our team, but I thought we overspent on him at £6.5m so at £10m, even though I don't think we'd really find anyone to replace him, it's just too good to turn down.

He's not really a goalscorer, but he's certainly not one of those typical 'hard worker' types who just runs and points and does little else. He gets involved a lot.

That said, I don't think there's anything at all in this and it's a load of the usual summer bullshit. Could be wrong but I really don't think I am.

 

It's better than Samaras, and he's probably better than Pelle. I know that doesn't make him a world beater, and we'd definitely not have enough quality up front, but we're in a pretty desperate situation it would seem.

 

Suppose that beats lumping it to Pelle to control it in the general direction of the nearest defender like we've seen in preseason.

 

Looks like it will happen for sure, our man on the inside @ SMS has confirmed it's going to happen more or less.

Something to do with him not settling up there, he wants to move back down South and Hull feel the offer is too good to refuse.

Right but I'm better than Samaras, so that's not a great comparison. He'd be an improvement to the squad by default, but I'd hope for and expect better.

 

He's got 3 years left on his contract, hence the silly fee.

 

Could be £10m double bid for Long and Elmohamady.

 

Sooooo why don't we refuse to pay more than double what he's worth, and move on to a different/better/cheaper target?

 

At least that came with the hope that we might switch gears and place someone useful up top.

 

Indeed, getting mugged by Hull would just be the icing this summer.

 

Not for 10m tho.

8-9 goals a season? That's a pathetic return from a striker who might cost us 10m lol. I wish this rumour would go away.

 

I don't think that'll be the fee. Closer to £8,000,000 I'd say.
