Surely he isn't worth anywhere near that? That's considerably more than Hull spent to get him, I believe, and he didn't set the world alight there.
Surely there's no way his fee can have gone up by £4m after he was crap at Hull EDIT: High five Schad
But he's such a hard worker! A hard worker who inexplicably will have stretches of three or four straight games where you don't even realize they're on the pitch, but he's probably running really hard somewhere out of frame!
If it was Long and another, I'd be ok with that, as mentioned Pelle is our only ST. But £10 million, I'd much rather go for Ings if it was a choice between the two.
Hmmm, one from left field this. I'm ok with Long, not overly ok, but ok, although £10m is ludicrous.
http://www.footballfancast.com/premiership/west-ham-qpr-southampton-target-hull-ace If we sign this guy I would just laugh, he would make Long a good signing.
This is what's happening. We're signing some decent players, and it looks like we have the makings of a fairly decent team. The media, of course, doesn't want this. They want us to be crap so they can alternately emote about how unfortunate it is for the fans, and how we never should have got rid of Il Duce. That's just, like, my opinion.
I don't think long would be a bad signing, but at 10 million it would be bad business. Suddenly when you add that sort of price tag to a player it does make it more sour.
To be honest, I think he's a decent player. Knows where the net is and run's his arse off. Not prolific enough though, if we're honest. I hope the £10m stuff I've read is wrong, as if we're paying anywhere close to that, then our scouting team needs putting down - slowly.
Like others have said, we could do a lot worse than Long, but I don't believe that price tag for a minute.
I've always liked Long, he's proven EPL quality, although for lower to mid table teams. I'd want us to aim higher than that.
