People have said we have over paid this summer. But have we also under charged? Reina - £3ish Kelly - £1.5 I just feel these players are worth more. Hell, I think we should have got an extra £5m for Suarez.
he's probably on 3 times the wages. shame we couldn't have done a deal where johnson went to qpr and remy came the other way.
When Rodgers first took over who'd have guessed Kelly would leave for just £1.5m and Flanagan would be a much loved first team player?
welll.. you might be right. I mean as a loanee, and lets face it if i were palace I'd want to loan the lad to see if he holds up then buy.... well to loan him i'd chage 1million. so to buy a player for 1.5mil is virtually unheard of so it shows the state he's in.
Based on what? Suarez + £60mill? I think the £60mill was always just rumour. Even if it wasn't, FSG could easily have decided Rodgers doesn't need £60mill on top of the windfall from Suarez. Also... even when chairmen allow managers to spend 100% of the money brought in on new players- there is always a certain % that disappears- goes to taxes, fees, agents, lawyers, etc. If you sell a player for £75mill- you probably only end up with £60mill to reinvest. On top of that- Suarez was getting what- somewhere between £100k pw and £200k pw. Our wage bill has surely gone up exchanging him for 7 new players? Their combined wages must be more than Suarez's... although I suppose losing Reina frees up £100pw and losing Kelly frees up £5.50 a week. I think this is fair. I think minus the injuries he could have been good but the injuries set him back too far and he'll never be a star player.
much loved is a bit too strong.... respected? changed peoples minds? but loved? f me... can't se that if not one perosn on here will put him in a first team if manquillo and moreno turn in... #ruthless sport aint it?
Got a feeling that every departure form here on in will fail to meet our expectations price wise. Expect Agger and Lucas to leave on the cheap.....it seems we may even have to sweeten the deals for Borini and Assaidi to leave too. These are fringe players....and we need them off the wage bill. Clubs know that, so get ready for us to drop our pants and get royally shafted!
Sunderland have named a price for Borini and we accepted it. Its a good deal. We should fight till deadline day for a profit on Assaidi.
If Eto'o just changed his age again and said he was 23 he'd be being courted by every club in Europe.
"Based on what? Suarez + £60mill?" pretty much, i don't have anything else to go on, so was hoping some truth in it. if we are spending £20 odd on moreno and we NEED a striker i should imagine he will have a lot to spend still, other wise moreno becomes less important and cover or comp for sturridge does, esp with cl. unless we shift lucas, agger and convince borini to go to raise some funds?
He was 33 then. They would understand that as a 23 year old he has some growth room left! In reality was he that bad? 9 goals & 4 assists in 21 appearances isn't terrible form for someone who is ancient. This whilst playing for a highly defensive club? I certainly don't want Eto'o, he's old and we can do better... I don't think he's terrible though,
£60+Suarez your maths sounds about right... IF we really get £60+Suarez... I suspect our funds are significantly lower than that though or we'd have signed a striker and not be going around haggling with every club in town for their striker.
Kelly for £1.5m?! Palace have a potential bargain if he stays fit. Very good defender on his day, can cover RB and CB. Really surprised by this. Guess it means we aren't going to shift Johnson as we wouldn't go into the new season with Flanno and Mankiller as the only 2 RB's.
