Federico fernandez has been left out of napolis champions league squad, so its starting to look as if we maight pull this one off.if we doit will stop all talk of monk not being able to attract top players, after all this is a world cup finalist, difficult to top that
Definitely seems to be going through and well done. But you have to assume the Napoli link has been instrumental in this transfer. He comes at a very high price for a third choice injury prone centre back who hasn't played much football in the last three years. I would have been far more impressed had we pulled out all the stops to keep Chico Flores. Hopefully Fernandez will be be able to play regular and at a high standard.
Chico, never played an international or Fernandez played for Argentina 25 times + at the World Cup for me equals an upgrade in Chico, if he stays fit as you allude too Now let's sign Timothee and Stambouli and our squad then looks strong in every area.
So we should kept DeGuzman rather than sign Siggy? agree about Timothee and Stambouli but we would have had just as strong a squad without them had we made an effort to keep players rather than encourage them to leave. True about Chico, but the same could be said of Leon, Chico knows the players around him. In my opinion we should have moved heaven and earth to keep Chico if only until Christmas when Fernandez might have got up to speed.
We did nothing to keep him or De Guzman much to the detriment of the squad , anyone actually think KI is an upgrade ?
Gylfi is a much better player than JDG for me. As for Chico, if a player wants to leave, there isn't much persuading that can be done. Better to sell and get the replacement while he is still available.
Monk said it was JDG decision and that he wanted more time to think about his options so I don't blame us looking elsewhere. That said Monk has said he will be happy if he decides to join us. I think JDG holds all of the cards regarding his transfer and is probably looking to dash in on the biggest pay check after his WC appearances.
Glad we didn't give the De Goose another season!...................... please log in to view this image
Sorry but I don't think he's a 3rd choice center back for us! Fifa bio: Federico FERNANDEZ ARG DEFENDER 30International Caps 2International Goals 25years old 190cm FIRST INTERNATIONAL Argentina - Ecuador 20 Apr 2011 DATE OF BIRTH 21 Feb 1989 CURRENT CLUB SSC Napoli (ITA) FIFA.com A physically imposing, uncompromising centre-half able to get the better of opponents on the ground and in the air, Federico Fernandez is seen by coach Alejandro Sabella as one of his most promising options in his revamp of the Albiceleste backline. The two know each other well from their time together at Estudiantes. Fernandez made his debut there in 2008 but only cemented his place in the first team after Sabella’s arrival in the dugout. An unused substitute in the team that finished runners-up at the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2009, he was a central plank in the Pincharrata line-up by the time they won the 2010 Torneo Clausura 2010. Sergio Batista gave him his first international cap in April 2011 but did not name him in the squad for the Copa America later that year, one in which he joined his current club Napoli after a short loan spell with Getafe in Spain. Though Sabella brought him into the squad after taking over as national team coach, Fernandez stayed on the bench for the first three games of the Brazil 2014 qualifying competition. Yet after starting on matchday four against Colombia he has rarely been out of the side, racking up 990 minutes of pitchtime during the preliminaries, a figure topped by only three of his team-mates.
Great signing by Monk, and what an upgrade from Chico, should shut the gobs of the Laudrop idiots on here with him not being able to attract top talent!......... Bring on Manure!............... please log in to view this image
Hold your horses! It’s reported there are problems between Napoli and Swansea City for Federico Fernandez. The Argentina international had seemed to be on the verge of completing the transfer for €10m (£8m) last week. However, the deal still hasn’t gone through and Sky Sport Italia report of problems agreeing terms. It’s suggested there are issues still to be resolved on how many instalments the payment will be made in and other financial details.
Football Italia are now reporting that the deal for Fernandez has hit a snag and no agreement has been reached as yet.
Let's hope he wises up and gets he deal done. We haven't spent anything in real terms so we should just pay the money upfront and sign him.
Well he has got Napoli over a barrel if they want Michu? so cannot see this deal failing...................
Surely that deal has already been signed off....they wouldn't agree to pay the loan fee without an agreed fee in place should they take up the option to buy him would they now Phillip? That would just be amateurish.
Talking of amateurish, I'm sure Huw hasn't decided a final price on Michu with Napoli before the season kicks off, otherwise he'd be as stupid as you, now wouldn't he! Garry Monk's barmy army....................
