We've finally got a signing story on Sky.... http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_7008506,00.html
Brilliant. Not a surprise but really happy he has signed up. And at his age he has his best years ahead of him.
The Derby fans think it was either Shackell or Ayala, not both, at least according to this... http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=181&fid=16&sty=2&act=1&mid=2117324935
I also worry about the impact on Chester if we sign Ayala. Chester was excellent at centre back but - lets face it - pretty woeful elsewhere and the team looked far less balanced with him played at right back and in midfield. He made James Harper look like Claude Makelele.... First choice centre backs HAVE to be Little and Large Chester and Hobbs.
He's definitely a centre back, but that's going a bit far, even I couldn't make Harper look like Makelele.
If he's makelele then im Michael Essien If we get Ayala then I will be very pleased. But i think we need to sort our attack and goalkeeper out now. Maybe its a start to kicking off our summer transfers. UTT
I'm not so sure, he's a Liverpool reserve player, I don't see it as being any more unlikely than Stewart, Chester, Evans or Dudgeon.
For 850k we can't go wrong with Hobbs. Is signing Ayala for a relatively high fee and wages worth it? Hobbs and Chester would be an easily good enough, solid partnership in this league.
Perhaps. And can I just ask, why have you only just posted for the 1st time when you joined 6 months ago!? (Or is it another of Percy's fake accounts?)
I'm not denying Ayala's quality, he was class with us, it' just a winger is probably the main priority at the moment. If we are to splash cash I'd rather see it go on somebody like Keith Treacy, a position that definitely needs strengthening than one where we have two championship quality players. I assure you I'm not a fake account, I had completely forgotten that I'd registered for this site until recently.
At times last season Nigel Pearson went for Chester, Hobbs and Gerrard all playing as centre backs. Fair enough, it was usually away from home for the last 15mins to protect a result, but I reckon if we get Ayala that's what he'd do from the off. Someone on another thread has a 532 with Rosenior and Dudgeon pushing forward that I think would be pretty close, given how the squad is looking like shaping up.
