It is interesting that people say that the Community Shield means nothing. Of the last 11 winners, 5 have gone on to win the title. So the question is; If we have a 45% chance to win the Premier league, are we contenders? Or is it only significant if 100% have gone on to win?
you have to remember , that these people have spent years crowing about Arsenal winning nothing. Now there whole reason d'etre has diminished , its bound to hit em hard . Poor things.
It's interesting to see the view that City were half hearted and treated it as a friendly and it was more important for arsenal etc that has been the general view in the media I just thought arsenal wanted it more and they made City look that way. Perhaps it's the usual pro utd/Liverpool media only too happy to play down what was an excellent arsenal performance?
They lost the Community Shield 2-0 to United, so it has no bearing on the issue, as far as I can see.
I dont doubt that it was more important for Arsenal .
