Does anybody have a picture to show if the entire gravel trap has been replaced? I've been seeing people say that its only the entry (where you'd probably only be going off if you've had a mechanical failure) Which is nowhere near as bad.
I've heard that the actual reason for the gravel trap is not for over-zealous F1 standards but actually FIM/Dorna for the WSBK guys. I suppose as we get more categories of racing on each circuit those circuits need to meet the individual safety standards of all of them and thus we end up with more facelifted circuits than what we originally knew.

Apparently they've put an absolute brutal kerb on the exit so that's something at least. Talk of low grip paint too...
New photos of Sochi. I swear I'm the only one that actually likes the look of this track. Seems to be coming along pretty well. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Lotterer confirmed to replace Kobayahsi. Can't see the sense in it. When was the last Lotterer even sat in an F1 car?
Have I also missed the fact that Ericsson (sp?) has been worse than Kamui this year? I may be wrong, but KK always seems the faster of the two.
If it hadn't been for Raikkonen doing what he complained about Perez doing and Bianchi for ramming him a few corners later, Kobayashi would have points
Its sad for Kamui, but frankly everybody saw this coming the moment he joined Caterham. They're a sinking ship desperate for cash, and its bloody difficult to show enough to get anyone else interested in you driving that car.
To compare this season to Vettel's 2011 domination: Average points per race: 2011

Position Points/race

1 21.27

2 13.55

3 13.27

4 13.18

5 12.18

2014

Position Points/race

1 18.36

2 17.36

3 11.91

4 10.45

5 8.64

So in some ways there has been greater domination in recent times, this year, 2nd has 94.6% of 1sts points - 63.7% in 2011 3rd has 64.9% of 1sts points - 62.4% in 2011 but then in 2011 2nd-5th was much closer, all within 10% or so whilst its more like 50% now. Pointless numbers
Actually AFAIK, Lotterer's bringing virtually little to no backing. I'm really keen to see how this pans out - yeah it sucks it happened to KK instead of Ericcson but how often do we see Le Mans stars (and successful ones at that) making their way over to F1? I'm all for it, especially when if Kobayashi was going to get the sack the likely alternative would have been to replace him with some rich midfielder from GP3. Could have been much worse. On another note Rossi is replacing Max! http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2014/08/21/marussia-replace-chilton-rossi-belgian-gp/
