  1. Anyone else think he'd be a great signing?

Lower wages, passionate player, would be a great part of the squad and dressing room, and i just reckon that he'll really connect with the fans and he'd be quite a hit up here. He's the sort of bloke that Toon fans would love.

I know you're all sick off midfielders, but i don't like the argument that we have "too many" midfielders.

I think he could be a great squad player, and one that we could use when it comes to squad rotation and he could also make a good captain if we need a new leader, as he's proven himself at Blackpool.

I think we could offer Blackpool 5 million plus Routledge. Routledge is a great player in the lower level. Routledge is probably one of the best players in the CC when he's playing down there, and i think he'd fit into Blackpool's style of play well. Fast, creative, attacking football.

We'll also be getting rid of Smith, and could possible lose Guthrie to Birmingham.

So we may be losing 3 midfielders, but only 1 of them decent (Guthrie), and gain a good one in their place. Which means we'll lose 2 **** midfielders that we don't need, and the only decent one we'll be losing will be replaced by a quality one. It will satisfy the people that think we have too much, as we'll be getting rid of a few, but also gaining a better one in return.

What we need is quality and also squad depth. If we have **** luck with injuries and suspensions like last season, we'll need good players to step in.

    Anyone else?

P.S. 5 million plus Routledge may seem like a big amount to some people for Adam, but remember he's only on like 10k a week at Blackpool, so i think we could sign him for around 20/25k, as that may seem like a big wage to him and we also need to make him feel like the move will be worth his while financially also.

This would also gain us a crackin' player on low wages, and Mike Ashley i doubt will be unhappy with that.

Lets spend some money on strikers first and then see if we have enough left for a cm <ok>

  5. So? Over rated maybe, but worth having.

  6. I agree strikers are top of our priority list, however, it doesn't mean you have to turn down a chance like this if it comes along.

you know we can sign midfielders aswell as strikers, you dont have to just have one.

it not hard to find a good midfielder but its very difficult to find a good striker

In all honesty, I really don't like him. Dunno what it is, but there's something about the bloke I don't like.

Maybe it's because he looks a lot older than he is... can't be trusted!! :O

So you're admitting he's overrated, but still want him, when the only reason you're even aware of him is because his OK-but-not-spectacular performances have been overhyped by the Media?

  11. I think Wayne Rooney is over rated but i'd still have him mate.

Yes Charlie Adam is over rated, but it doesn't mean he's ****e. He's a great player and worth having.

I don't listen to media hype when determining whether or not a player is good and worth having on the team. His performances have impressed me.

Didn't Blackpool turn down an £8Million bid for him from Kenny Dollars ... wouldn't want to splash that sort of cash on him .. £4 - £5 Mill maybe

Not for me, he is kind of a luxary player, would work best in the no 10 role and we have HBA for that and if we got him as back up it would push players like Vuckic further down the pecking order.

I'm not saying that because a player is overrated, don't sign them. That's nonsensical.

What I'm saying is that Charlie Adam is an OK player, but is he really what you need? Is he really that good that he'll be able to play like he does at Blackpool for Newcastle?

I wouldn't mind him for the right price, regardless of how much we need a striker more. However, I don't think he's worth anything over £6million, and didn't (as it's just been reiterated here) Liverpool have an £8 million bid rejected previously?

definitely don't want him, he's a passenger apart from set pieces, we'd have to carry him, reminds me of Nolan, decent on his day but if you're going to push for top 6 every player must have an important role.

I'd pay between £3.5m and £4m, maximum to have him as back-up, if that. As if Blackpool were asking for £12-15m FFS... <doh>

He requested he be transfer listed at Blackpool, and certainly has a very high opinion of himself. Think he'd be quite arrogant, and with that, expect fairly high wages. Hed probably want at least 40-50k now, which is within the Toon budget, but is he worth that? Certainly has some talent on the ball, but I think a few wonder goals, and a goal tally that is unfairly skewed due to penalties has increased his value far too much.
