Redknapp has apparently moaned about a 'not good' pre season. In the unlikely event (ha!) of this season not being a complete success, lets track the reasons as they emerge. Excluded is Redknapp saying 'I got it wrong'/ 'it's my responsibility' we need to see how the gods have conspired against him..... Starters: - bad pre season - not enough time to get the right players in - 'they' (the owners) are 'naive' and would not pay for the right players - injuries - too many games - too few games - injuries - 'they' (the players) not good enough for new system - 'bad sorts' in dressing room (Barton's turn this year I think) - injuries - the weather - opposition too good - crowd not loud enough - opposition crowd too loud and in the wrong place in the stadium - injuries - my leg hurts, it needed an operation before we were promoted, but then it didn't, now it does again - it's Kevin Bond's fault - that Steve Black has ruined the players' heads - injuries - the dog ate my tactics and so on, ad nauseum....... [I sincerely hope none of these are needed as we cruise through the season safe at all times]
For the aid of the humourless I'd better spell out that this is tongue in cheek mate, but to be honest it didn't tax the imagination much.
To be honest, I didn't read the whole post I just saw that it was negative. And I probably would have written the same on whatever next thread was negative. I just want the season to start and be done with it. And I want to try and be positive because there's not a lot you or I can do to affect things. This is the first season I haven't bought a season ticket for a long while as I'm going to be away for three long months from October to January. I've got a membership so I will have spent considerably less than you.
Harry: "After a couple of games things weren't going so well. I hadn't a clue what to do. I brought in a young coach, Glenn Hoodie, but he is about as useless as a chocolate teapot and I won't tell you what I think of the rest of the coaching staff. So I did what I had to do. I looked for tactical advice on Not606. There are loads of experts there with some great ideas. Unfortunately Flyer, their greatest tactician, has left and we don't know where he has gone. I know we still haven't won after 14 games, but hey, you can't have everything. Without Adel to run round the pitch taking on the cream of the Premiership on his own whilst the rest of the team do a few shuttle runs up and down the touchline to keep warm we might as well pack it all in and go home."
To be honest I don't see you have put enough details into this all areas need to be expanded a lot further ie The weather can be split into several sub categories - too hot, too cold, too dry, too wet, too Windy, poor light. Should be at least 101 excuses
To be fair to Harry, he should have complete access to this page, with a repeat button and possibly a 'favourites' section. Also. Think how much anxiety he must be feeling having purchased a number of young players who won't be anywhere near 30 for some time. It's not all beer and skittles you know!
Redknapp's not in the same league as Ollie when it comes to getting your excuses in early. How about this on Saturday after Millwall beat Leeds: "We had double their shots on target and we have done that to Leeds United and I am really pleased for my team. "People win 6-0 and 8-0 on the opening day and go on to have bad seasons so I just want to be consistent for my lads, if I was allowed a bet I would, because our odds to get relegated are a disgrace. "I just want people to show me and my team some respect. Van Gogh is a decent painter now isn't he but when he was alive he was just a bloke with half an ear."
If only Redknapp's stuff was half as surreal and funny. Classic Ollie, nice one. Bet Redknapp thinks Van Gogh was a Dutch holding midfielder from the early 90s.
With two new players allegedly arriving this week (and likely to go straight into the team based on pre-season) its going to be about gelling - or lack of - for sure.
...and starting the season will be like being hit by a train. There'll be precious little time to try things out without taking damage if it doesn't work. We've been here before (but worse) and it worries me
We have known for the last 5 seasons that we have needed a striker (fit pref) and still 6 days before another new season, we are scrambling around looking.
Perhaps as well as running the Prediction Comp, Roller will arrange a weekly Harold Excuse competition.....
On the money for me Stan Add to that: We gave it a go but it's a very tough league I said it would be I am very confident we will get the 15 points required to stay up (with 4 matches left) When i first came here it was a shambles so i shipped out 18 players, got us relegated, threw a double six and landed on go straight back up We should of kept Chris Samba ... terrific player
