Oh nooo!!!! Well at least JLS won't be replacing him. But to be honest I'd rather Lilly Savage.

I've got a soft spot for the guy, but I still think he needs to lose more weight to avoid injury. If he could get a little bit more off I think he'd be a quality player, but one to hold onto in hope? I don't know. He's been promising a lot for a lot of clubs for a while now, without hitting top gear. If we had a decent offer, the board would no doubt think hard over it.

Same hear ScottSwan. I reckon he could do a grand job holding the ball up for a nippy front man to run off him. We're not seeing him day in, day out though. He may be chucking down a litre tub of Joe's ice cream every night for all we know

I'd like to point out I couldn't see the photo due to pants internet the first time I replied to this thread, hence my humourless and serious reply! I'm not a robit like, innit!

The thing about Beattie is that he isn't really over weight... It's weird, but I quite enjoy watching the Swans train and there are times when he seems to be carrying a few extra pounds and it's obvious to see. Then other times he seems to be in good shape, but somehow still has that look as though he's over weight... It's similar to Rooney, he can be in great shape but still look like he's carrying an extra couple of lbs. Anyway, I don't mind Beattie as a player he just doesn't seem to contribute enough to hold down a place but occasionally we see what he can do i.e. Ipswich and Boro.

Agreed, Beattie is not overweight, he is simply slow in every conceivable way.

Pretty hard to make an impact last season when you only start 9 games . Even so , Beattie scored 4 goals . Season before , under Sousa's highly touted offense ( Lol !! ) he only started 12 games & got 3 goals . Never had a chance , even when he was healthy .

I don't think he's OVERweight as such, just he's carrying too much to avoid injury I think. His history proves that! You can even have too much muscle (which I don't think is the case here :p) and I wouldn't call him fat, just it's got to be connected with his injury problems.

Sorry but there's a reason he wasn't given chances. You have to earn starts by impressing in training and the reserves and he obviously doesn't do well enough there.

He's just not strong enough and doesn't have a good enough touch or finish to make up for what he lacks in movement. He is what he is which is a panic buy on the last day of the transfer window after out entire strike force got sold or injured.

A possible prime example why, just because you scored goals in Scotland, it doesn't mean you'll score many south of the border! The guy has clearly got technique, just sadly doesn't seem able to step it up that little bit that's needed.

He's an unused Clydesdale of a player who will finally get sold used elsewhere after he's sold & do very well where he goes IMO .

People have been saying that since Celtic though breezey, and he's yet to "do it". I hope he does! Either for us or someone else... but he's running out of "kicking on time" as it were...

All I'm saying is you " Can't do it " without opportunity . All I heard was he can't stay healthy , but once he was healthy other excuses were made why he isn't playing . 7 goals in 21 starts is nothing to sneeze at . Hope he goes to where he gets a chance , that's all . Cheers & have a good one !!

Problem is if you're unfit while your team is playing well, you can't drop someone who has been part of a successful team just because someone you think might do well has reached match fitness, unless you deal in heavy squad rotation or the other player has a dip in form! While we weren't spoilt for choice with quality strikers over the last season, Brendans decision making was justified with promotion.
