As an added benefit, getting Gnabry back at the end of the year might scratch his annual sign-a-youngster-from-Saints itch.
Zaha, nani and hernandez all on the way out of ManU. Could be worth a look at two of these at least. Maybe a buy two get one free?
As good as Nani would be for a club like Saints, he's a complete diva and we don't want to be a team centred around one player. He has a statue of himself for Christ's sake. Also he'd leave us for a bigger club at the first opportunity. Hernandez would as well, but at least he's a more down-to-earth kind of guy and a consistent performer. Zaha isn't good enough. So yeah, I'd take one of the three.
Agree about Zaha...he has the potential, so his lack of real success must be down to attitude and/or lack of effort. I think he thinks he's arrived and can stop now...definitely not a Saints' type of player.
We had this discussion the other day, but there's never been a point when Zaha has been the standout player for his club. In his best days at Palace there were still at least two players who were consistently more important than him (Bolasie and Murray). He must have a really good agent.
Surely they havent done the usual photocall with Fraser Forster because they want to announce with another signing today??? Pleeeease!
Hopefully, he hasn't suddenly realised that he has always wanted to play for Liverpool having spent the world cup with Stevie Gerrard.
This has probably been discussed already but I can see huge merit in bringing in both Gardos and Vlad Chiriches. They are a top international paring (Romania's defensive record when both play is excellent) and would be much more likely to bed in quickly than, say, someone like Rojo and one other. I like Rojo because he offers competiton at full back as well, but I'd be delighted with the two Romanians plus a utility defender/midifelder like Byram.
Chiriches would be a bit of a coup. Is there anyone linking him to us, other than the rumour that he was included in a part-exchange offer for Schneiderlin?
He adds competiton and must compete for a place like everyone else. Fonte is a vital player/person to keep around and is a good choice as captain I think but I don't think he should be an automatic starter.
Not that I've seen, although Spurs are clearly in the market for another centre back if rumours are to be believed and I think Chiriches to Saints would be a god move for all concerned (although concede that a deal would likely mean that Morgan would get his wish)
How much have they really played together though? I'd buy the chemistry thing if they'd be partners for years but Gardos has only played for Romania about ten times. EDIT: Scratch that, Chirichirichirc.. Churches played for Steaua too so it's fine.
Jose is definitely going to start. If we buy another CB like Rojo, Van Dijk or Chiriches then it'll be Gardos on the bench at first, let's be realistic here.
nobody knows what will happen until it happens - everyone is entitled to an opinion - but ultimately it is down to Koeman and the Club to buy not just the best players possible - but the right players - so we can be ready to fight for another crack at a top 6 finish......
