2 years older than Benteke and 4 older than Lukaku then. At the moment, as I say I think Bony is more consistant, probably due to his age and playing more than the others, but I do think both will become better than Bony in 2 or 3 years time (and that's no disrespect to Bony as I was one saying I think he would be a good signing for us).
Bony doesn't make anyone's top x strikers lists but I'd be very content with him. Not thrilled but very content.
Lukaku can potentially be the best of the three. Not sold on Benteke yet, he was pants last season when I watched Villa, but wasn't he injured for a while too?
He was injured for a lot. I think he went through a barren spell at the moment, but to be fair to him, he's playing in the ****test team of the 3 so service is going to be a lot poorer.
I think we will keep Bony, Rodgers clearly cannot convince for the fee, and I think Bony will surpass last season's goal tally, and will secure a more impressive transfer all round for himself and our club next seasson! The guy is a beast.................
I think he means that by scoring a similar amount of goals this season he will prove that he's worth £25 million plus and will be able to negotiate a better pay ruse for himself. Lukaku scored 16 goals last year and went for £28 million. Bony scored 25 goals. I thought Bony would have ended up at Arsenal tbh. You lot create on average, 15-25 chances a game? Give Bony that amount of chances week in week out, and he could bag hat tricks every game. He is as clinical as anyone in the league when it comes to taking chances, not to mention he was also our best defender when defending free kicks and corners last season.
He needs a season similar to his first season to force a move to a top 6 club. The rouble is as you say, in a ****ty side, will he get the opportunities to score.
In tipping Villa for the drop this season. Only way they survive is of they can not only keep hold of Benteke but keep him fit & interested too. Big ask that as he only seems to pull the big performances out against the big boys. Looking for that big move maybe??? I reckon I'd rather take the risk on Remy than buy Benteke or Bony tbh
You cant say that without knowing all the ins and outs of it. Funny one that. I read somewhere we werent impressed with his attitude but we wouldnt be able to say he failed a med on that
Lots of people wanting Falcao or Cavani type players, then there's the whole Remy, Bony or Benteke discussion. Tbh, I have faith in Rodgers' vision for our team and whoever he buys will be someone who he thinks will be the ideal fit - I'm fine with that. I don't want Any of those 5, but if Rodgers thinks Bony or Benteke is the man, so be it. I doubt it'll be a big name though...don't think he wants a super star.
Yeah I can, I'm looking at risk. Whatever the issue with Remy, worst case scenario is we lose £8.5m. Bony will cost around £20m. Of he doesn't work out, could we get £12m for him? Benteke will be about £25m, could we get £18m after a poor return? Remy represents the lowest risk for a similar standard player.
But Remy is 27/28? Bony is 25, Benteke is 23. The only way you wouldn't get £12m back for Bony is if he gets less than 10 goals, similar to Benteke. And why the obsession with losing money? If Bony is signed for £20m and we win the league after he scores 10 goals, is anyone going to say we wasted the money if we then wanted to sell but could only sell for say £10m? I'd take a £10m hit and win the league than make a £5m profit and finish 2nd
But the Remy deal is off, so surely no point in comparing him?. There must be a good reason for it to fall through, even if we weren't given the full story, so he obviously presents too much of a risk, as far as the club are concerned. When assessing risk, you'd have to take into account whatever it is that the club knows, that seemingly we don't.
I'd rather look at fit than risk. Sorry but I can see why Rodgers went for Remy and it's not all cheapness. It's style. I cannot see for the life of me how bony or indeed betenke are any better than lambert really... Oh sure there's difference but in terms of our playing style neither look to me like the type of player who fits like Remy would have been. And frankly while reus is all paper talk and we prob are not bidding.... Well he is just perfect for the system
I'd take Benteke over Bony all day long. Like someone said Benteke on his day he is unplayable, I'm certain Rodgers could get him to fit our system. He made Henderson into one of the best midfielders in the PL when at first he wasn't keen on him. Basically if Rodgers thinks Benteke/Bony can fit the system I have every faith they will. I wanna know what what's going on with Reus in general - will there suddenly be a bidding war and someone get's him on transfer deadline day? Seems odd that not a lot is being sensationalised about clubs and Reus.
I haven't seen yesterdays game yet but understand that we were pretty slick...albeit in a friendly.....the question that I have is who would be a direct replacement for Sturridge in that line up? Remy would have been an ideal fit imo and we are yet to really know the reasons why the move collapsed. I like Bony a lot but am not sure if he's as mobile as Studge or Remy.....just haven't watched him play closely enough. Benteke is very injury prone and still on the path to recovery so would be seriously risky. One thing is for sure, we need someone urgently because if we suffer an early injury to Studge, we're fooked!
