    Just seen this on Facebook.

Reports coming through of a possible tornado in Bilton, near Hull. Below is an image close the area with some severe tree damage

Probably not a tornado from what I have seen in places that I have lived thats had them. Trees will break if the wind hits them from an angle that they are not used to. Look at the shingles and tv antennas just a few feet from the trees. There is no damage at all from them. A tornado would have damaged those items as they are the same height as the tops of the trees. It was most likely just strong wind that either suddenly changed directions or came from an angle the trees had not grown resistance to.

This was posted on the UK Weather Forecast Facebook page.

After visiting parts of East Hull and doing a field report, I can confirm that there was a tornado that moved through parts of East Hull, with damage in a 1 mile path.. There are widespread trees down, damage to vehicles and property. One person, believed to be a woman has been taking to Hull Royal infirmary with what is described as head injuries. More photos and videos to come.

It normally takes a day or 2 for us to confirm that a weak tornado passed by. Perhaps someone had a video of it touching the ground. Pretty sure the only people who can actually confirm it here are the National Weather Service a reporter doesnt have the expertise to make that confirmation, a video would do the trick though.

Ah the British and the weather. Stronger than normal winds become gale force, heavy rain can be monsoon like, a light snow fall is a blizzard.

Tornados are not particularly unusual in the UK, but it's only right that such windy things should get international verification!
