City possession was on 42% overall. It must have been very variable during the match especially early on.
They seemed to have most of the second half, our passing wasn't the best. Still should have sealed it on the break though.
Sounds like a good performance, Robertson sounds as if he impressed, should start against the Dramas, with Rossy at right back in a 442.
If we run out next week in a 4-4-2, doesn't it rather make a mockery of the whole pre-season? Surely SB will stick with his three-CB plan, with Elmo in his natural WB role and Hudd/Livers/Snodgrass in the middle. The only real decisions appear to be Brady v Robertson at LWB and Jela v Aluko v Ince for the right to partner/sit behind Long.
Just. Been round the pool all afternoon, bloody hot hehe Did sagbo come on and can someone put up the goals ta.
Yeah, he would've. Who would your first choice left back have been then? Dudgeon? Oh wait, he's at Barnsley... Figgy? Oh wait, he proved he was useless there... He only joined us on the basis that he would be a first team regular as well.
With every game being 352 in pre-season he'll certainly stick with that, with players on the bench to switch to 442 if needed in the second half as he did on thursday. We'll just have to see how it goes with our full squad fit - Robertson is certainly a more dynamic option for left wing back than Rosenior from what we saw today, as is Brady when he's sharper. Figueroa was his usual self, makes you worry a bit when he gets the ball and seemingly fails to notice 3 opposing players closing him down. You could see McShane hasn't played a lot, positioning not his best. He has a tendence to start closing down someone with the ball and then hesitate when he realises he might be leaving a gap. Maguire has promise for a back three but will surely only be eased in for competitive fixtures, cup games to start with. Rosenior I'd love to see start as a fullback but unfortunately I can see him on the bench most games with our current system. Quinn, Boyd and Meyler will all have to settle for cover/rotation this season and Bruce certainly has some tough choices up front as Jelavic and Ince seemed to link up well today, though the latter needs to sharpen his finishing (as does Snodgrass!). I expect a 352 against QPR with much the same team as against trencin, bar Sagbo who's banned. McGregor Chester - Bruce - Davies Elmo - Huddlestone - Livermore - Robertson/Brady Snodgrass Jelavic - Long Rosenior then gives the option to bring Bruce off and go 442 if needed, while Ince and Aluko can come off the bench with some real pace. Just hard to say who might start at left wing back, and after today I might lean towards Robertson.
