Pre-season - we could argue about the quality of the teams, but I won't as it'll become protracted & serve no purpose. Bottom line - even with inferior opposition, we were crap. Can you imagine our build-up/confidence levels if we'd played better teams? doesn't bear thinking about! Team selection - minor point, but in one of Hock the Cock's interviews, he stated that he most certainly doesn't pick his teams based on pre-season match performances. Indeed, he was quite hostile at the suggestion. He says a lot can happen in a week pre-season & prefers to judge players on what they've done during the preceding week on the training pitch. He possibly has a point (which is more than the club have at the moment!). Byram - you can bet your bottom dollar that he was in the shop window. All bids for him will undoubltedly been tempered by statements surrounding his 'inconsistency last season due to injuries' etc. A clear statement has been made by playing him - he's fit & he's our #1 RB. Dig deep or shut up. Simple.
If Southampton and Sunderland had their scouts their yesterday, their reports back would have been "thank **** they turned down the big bids, look elsewhere"
Possibly, I can see your point, I would like to believe it isn't the case... Just found this: http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...or-young-defender-Sam-Byram-rejected-by-Leeds Express saying we are holding out for £10 million
I am not sure Millwall will be in a relegation fight this season. I'd LIKE them to be (of course I would!), but what you want and what you expect are two different things. Doesn't make our performance good, but I don't think we just lost to a relegation outfit. On Hunt, am I the only one wondering WHO decided he should start? Cellino has come out with a number of positive statements about him, I fear based more on his positive attitude than his current footballing prowess. Did he tell Hock to start him? Or did Hock think starting him would be a smart move given Cellino's comments about Hunt? This is the problem with the manager / coach thing, if a decision works out Cellino can tell you it was his decision, if it doesn't we all say Hock is an idiot.
Well he was extremely pissed (off) after the game - never seen him bite so much while defending the indefensible
Ristac, if you or anyone else on here told me we were holding out for £50m, I'd believe you all before speculation from a newspaper. And that's all it is. No quotes. Just a made up story to fill column inches.
In your dreams TC,just putting a stop to your tunnel vision of the game.Hows that complex about be called a weirdo coming along.Your not Frank Maloney are you ? about that age group aren't you ?..
No I was pissed this year, and on Newcastle Brown not the girly southern shandy crap.Stayed the night in London so didn't miss any drinking time traveling.
Hope you had a good weekend (apart from result) anyway mate - at least you were there and was a cracking atmosphere!! I see your Vice President couldn't make it http://instagram.com/ercolecellino - but he who pays the piper............................
Thanks to WJ's advice and a nice guy at gner I was drinking freebies all the way to Leeds, first class and no one else in the coach wanted anything so gave them to me. She picked me up at Leeds station and gave me the death stare!
Yes m8 was good apart from the result, was a great atmosphere. As for the vice president I think Dad should get him neutered.
This is a post I made on the victorious Millwall board Suggest you give the team a chance to gel. The early goal, when the Leeds defence went AWOL, could not have done anything for your teams confidence. You could not pass the ball out of defence because of our pressing game so were reliant on playing the ball long, but your forward line was not getting the type of ball that they wanted. When Matt Smith came on, he provided a physical presence and made life a little bit more difficult for Millwall back four and towards the end of the game Leeds had a bit more possession in advanced positions without really doing anything. You should really take a collective deep breath, put this game down to experience and see what happens when you get your new signings assimilated into the team. Looking forward to the return match and 'doing' you on your own pitch, and in the meantime we hold the bragging rights COYL
Good post eio. I've a feeling your wasting your time. Cellino asked for a couple of years to put things right, the fans give him one match. Only at Leeds
You sure your Millwall EIO,you speak too much sense. You coming up to Elland road m8 ? had a good meet up last season with the not 606 lads.
