The 23-year-old midfielder saw his career stall after leaving Goodison for Manchester City but Tosh Farrell believes he can fulfil his potential on Wearside Sunderland have signed one of English footballâs greatest unfulfilled talents â and have picked up a £10m bargain in Jack Rodwell. Thatâs according to the man who oversaw Rodwellâs *Everton development, Tosh Farrell. Farrell also worked with Ross Barkley and Wayne Rooney during their time at the Goodison club, but he has seen enough of Rodwell to believe that he is the equal of both of them. And that is the case, despite the 23-year-oldâs progress stalling after a frustrating period on the periphery at Manchester City. âJackâs as gifted as any player that Iâve ever worked with,â Farrell told Sunday Mirror Sport. âI believe he could be the best centre-half this country has ever produced â thatâs how good he is. âThere was nothing to choose between him and Ross as youngsters, but what Jack needs is playing time to get back to the kind of player that we all know he can be.â That has been an issue for Rodwell since his move to Manchester in the summer of 2012. He made just seven Premier League starts for Man City after his £12m transfer from Merseyside and spent the majority of his time at the Etihad, battling injury. Now, after being handed a lifeline by Sunderland boss Gus Poyet, Farrell is *confident he can not only *reinvigorate his club career on Wearside, but also his *international *ambition. âJack should be an England regular, heâs that gifted,â said Farrell. âI would watch him play and, alongside Ross, heâs one of the few players that you could never tell if he was right or left-footed. Thatâs a rare ability â one that sets him apart.â http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...ack-rodwell-gifted-ross-4029258#ixzz39wCCoB8i Follow us: @DailyMirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook Some claim that like. But he did work with both. Really looking forward seeing him play. Roll on Opening day!
Gus fancies him further up the pitch than Catts. I bet he's one of these players who's competent in any position.
Yeah, I believe all the hype, we've seen it when he broke through. Can't ****ing wait for Saturday now, really fancy us.
I fancy only a centre half and a winger to come in now after Zucini signs (if he signs). I think Roberge will cover centre back and left back, and a few youngsters will offer some depth. For some reason I think Wickham and Fletch will have decent season if they play, Jozy I'm afraid I don't see adapting. Think our business is coming to an end. If those two signings to come have a bit of quality I reckon we're all set for a decent season.
