Piskie, its obvious your either on dope or alcohol. I really do have better things to do. Your club needs fixing, so why not concentrate on that first.

So be a good chap, and go away. I can't be "arsed" with your silly wind up any more

<doh> If only you'd bothered to actually give a reasoned opinion on the matter instead of banding about the infantile responses.

I'm well aware of what needs addressing at Arsenal, thankfully we seem to be doing that now too. But once again, although it seems to have escaped you, this thread is not about Arsenal. It is about Man Utd and their ability or seeming lack of it to attract top quality players, when in the past they were the club that were coveted by almost every player who wanted to play at the top level.

Are there any genuine Utd fans on this board who can offer some intelligent debate on the topic ?

United have never been the first choice for the majority of Galactico players, even when they were the best team in the world. Most preferred the weather in Spain and Italy or the bright lights of London.

I'll bite. We made an offer for Vermaelen which your lot tried to negotiate to get Smalling from what I hear and so if this is true the player didn't turn us down.

As for others turning us down, it's common knowledge that Woodward ****ed up last year, but no club gets all of its targets and Fergie didn't get everyone he wanted and so I'm quite comfortable about the situation even though I'm hoping for a couple of signings.

The one where you don't appear to be able to land any of your targets, or indeed find any suitable replacement for key players in your team or address areas that didn't get resolved last summer either. The season starts next week and you still don't have any players to replace Vidic and Ferdinand, for example and that is not the only area of the team that needs looking at.

What are the chances that you spent the last two seasons referring to Rio Ferdinand as washed up or past it?!

I think we did stipulate that Smalling would be part of any deal, but I'm actually glad that we didn't sell Vermaelen to you. I think Smalling has got potential and we were close to signing him before he joined Utd. Overall though I'm happier to see Vermaelen go abroad.

Personally I think you guys are leaving it very late in the day to address several key areas, if you do at all. I know they are rumours but the list of players that have reportedly been your targets and for whatever reason have failed to join is a worrying sign. I thought that Van Gaal would have made one or two big name signings almost immediately, is he being held back by ineptitude at board level ?

You're welcome to check my posting history, but I can save you the time by confirming that I've never used either of those terms <ok>

Are you a betting man PESKIE? If so you should have a bet on the Gooners to win the league. The odds are longer than United's! At what point do the Arsenal board start to worry about Wenger's seeming inability to mount a title challenge?

Ah, so now it has chamged from players turning us down to us not being able to land our (alleged) targets. Two weeks ago Van Gaal stated he was happy to go with what he has. He has never said he wanted/needed different players so, unless he says he needs replacements then fails to get anyone in i will be quite happy with the situation. I am sure we can all think of many, many players we would like in our teams but would they be what the manager wanted. Abramovic plays FIFA14 or some such game and buys players for his manager to fit in his team, it rarely works. We have been linked to Di Maria, a fantastic footballer, yet i don`t think he would fit into the formation Van Gaal wants to play (5-3-2) so see it as unlikely. However Van Gaal said the formation suits the players he has so, if he buys different players he may change the formation but that would need a change of 4 or 5 players which would be too many going into a new season.

Surely the biggest snub of the summer is Fabregas turning Arsenal down to sign for Chelsea!

Not really changed. Players aren't joining Utd and that's the salient point, whether they've snubbed Utd or Utd are failing to land them, the result is the same. Did Van Gaal really say that ? I'd be extremely worried going into the season with the squad you have. But if he's happy, then I'm happy <ok>
