I'm sad to see Chico go, really, but...the top? He's going to ****ing Qatar! I'd be more understanding if he was leaving for a club in a proper league.

What a great letter from a great player for us. Must say though, probably reading a little too much into it, he wishes the best to fans, directors, chairman, coaches and staff but no mention of the manager!!

    What's to understand?
He has chosen to go somewhere where he will be comfortable, working with a Manager who he knows and respects.
In addition,he will be paid handsomely.
As I already asked, what's to understand?

But at the same time, does he not want to play properly competitive football? I understand that he's getting a ton of money and he gets to hang out with his mate ML, but I'm disappointed that he doesn't aim higher than that if he's going to be off. The letter is nice and all, but as I said the other day, I have a feeling that maybe his attitude isn't the sort we need if that is where he wants to go career wise.

Understanding of what??? I'm sure he'd be really appreciative of your understanding.

"Top" as in decorum, dignity, respect and humility. Class as in having respect for those that have got behind him while he was here and being willing to acknowledge it, with nothing negative about recent events, and good wishes for all. Humility for having the sense of contrition to include a paragraph that apologized for any embarrassment that some of his mistakes on the field may have caused.

Maybe Qatar is not at the top of the world's football pyramid, but it may be a very good landing depending on what he may have been experiencing at the Club and what is assessment of the condition of the Club's football organization may be. He may have been pushed out. He may have decided that out was better than in. Who's to say. But he has left, and for all the HJ penny pinchers out there we apparently made some profit on the trade, and Monk no longer has to be worried about "loose bricks" around the training ground.

Yeah sorry I thought you were referring to where he's actually gone as well, because it obviously isn't the top. Whether he was pushed out or not I don't know - I hope he wasn't really - but I find it hard to believe he couldn't find anywhere else. Which is why I wonder whether we've really lost as much as we think. Nice leaving message though on his part.

One thing I'm confused about is Pablo. Has he actually gone or what? BBC article on Chico just said it was possible he was going - I thought he'd already left ages ago!

Surely its his attitude on the pitch when wearing the shirt is what matters. So far he has trained and played with the utmost effore and professionalism. His career choices after us has no bearing on that and shouldnt define him.

When it comes to international call ups Chico will be able to claim he's acclimatised for the World Cup.

I'm with you on Chico's destination. I think he is definitely a Prem level defender and would like to know his thinking behind the move. But, perhaps he needed to go and this was a good landing under the circumstances - whatever they may be. Does he have an agent? If not, then he has to find his own openings.

There has been nothing concrete on Pablo yet as far as I know other than he's not been on the field for us.

If Canas and Pablo have not signed elsewhere by the squad deadline, they have to be named to the squad unless we have 25 other qualified seniors.

Chico is following Laudrup, its as simple as that . Theyre are players who were very loyal to the manager , Chico more than most it appears.

    quoted by whom?
who said this publicly? (you aren't referring to yourself are you? you realise that repeating something over and over doesn't make it so, right ? <laugh> )

See if you can back yourself up this time.
