Dave if you read my post properly, I never said Britain occupied Palestine in 1948. Israeli militias did, well armed and massacres them, forcing them out of Jerusalem and downhill towards the coast and on to boats as refugees. Destroying, raping murdering of a civilian society that lived in peace before the immigrants started arriving, for centuries 3 religions existed in peace, Christians Muslims and Jews. There are photos from 50 years earlier showing all 3 places of worship in the same place as well as historical accounts aplenty. the brewing conflict between Arabs and Jews you mention only became an issue when immigrants started arriving in ships in 1917 18. Britain actually limited immigration over this violence caused by the immigrants. British occupation was in fact accurate from about 1917 to 1948 ish to varying degrees but certainly an occupation until Israel declared independence. I think this is entirely accurate. A UN school has about 6000 people in it, 120 people per class room because they have no homes to go to. utter humiliation for these people after what they have just suffered. Tragic.
