Oh I don't know, I think Lovren was pretty key, and Lallana. He may of just missed the boat, I don't know. I certainly expected a bit more from him, but that's on limited knowledge of course, how do we ever know? I think this from James G is probably the best default position to have as of now: 'Tapping up, player power, selfish nonsense' Anything else is a bonus
It's a combination of everything, Poch opting out to further his career and taking people with him, an inexperianced board, Cortese building the club on foundations of sand, Lovren being a ****, Les not being enough of a 'people person' to keep the big players happy. A perfect storm of horseshit. There's no secret here.
Didn't Schneiderlin challenge the club to spend some of the money they have brought in to show their ambition (think about the 6th July), and then make a decision whether he wants to stay or not based on those signed? I seem to remember most on here applauding that approach in comparison to others who have left. Maybe he's not been impressed with those signed so far, and feels his ambitions aren't matched by the club. I don't agree with those saying we should use him to set a precedent, if the club wanted to do that, they should have done it with the first player wanting to leave! I've never heard anyone adopt that tactic after 5 key players have left. We're hardly short in midfield, so as long as we get a good price, I don't mind if we sell him.
Not sure if these extra details have been posted of Koemans comments from earlier re Morgan. Quite interesting http://mobile.newsnow.co.uk/A/727564858?-11205
They did exactly the same (bar Lambert) they said we don't want to sell' but the big difference is we got big offers for the others. We have not got a big offer in for Morgan. Spurs have only offered £10m and are now hoping we give in to player's wishes and they get him on the cheap. Arsenal are probably waiting to see what happens and will then trump Spurs 'final offer'. I don't expect Schneiderlin will be here at the end of the window IF (and its a big if) a club offers £25m+ without it being full of extras.
Koeman was asked if it was unfair that others have been allowed to go and Morgan has not - this was his reply: "No, it's not unfair. What is unfair, is signing a new contract and wanting to go after one season."
And Shaw. And Lambert. Oh, and Chambers as well As far as Morgan goes, he can **** right off, but not to Tottenham. Respect for him is gone now.
I like Koeman more and more as a person...he comes over as understanding, pleasant, knowledgeable, and reasonable if you are reasonable, but also strong. This season will certainly be interesting with a manager new to the EPL and a team in flux. I think we are in good hands.
I think you're missing something here. 1. It's Spurs. 2. He's our best player and the club rightly want to build around him I would only let him go for an offer so outrageously higher than the 25m quoted to proof a point. If we sell him to Spurs in this window, then the club so become a laughing stock and that would include Ron because he is also saying Morgan is going nowhere this window. I'd be asking Morgan what he wants. He has whispered previously of CL football. If this is the case then tell him his agent need to get Chelsea or Arsenal to give us £40m. Point out Spurs aren't CL and we won't sell anymore to Liverpool. If he says money, I'd look him in the eye and say, "Really, you've just signed a new contract, have you spent that already?" Play your socks off and well give you another new one in 12 months time.
My respect for him has lessened. My respect for him will massively increase if he understands why the club have said what they've said and he gets his head down and does a good job.
As puncheon did. It was the making of him. I bet he still looks back and views that as the time he finally grew ip
Yes, similar. We all thought he was a twat and then he came back, knuckles down, contributed to a good first season in the Prem and then left with a pat on the back.
I don't remember Puncheon out-right refusing to play for the club though. The other thing that gets me is the media attitude that we're unfair by not letting him leave, can't tell you how much that makes my blood boil! The guy has an employment contract that he has to legally adhere to, in what sense is it unfair?!
The Spurs owner is notoriously tight and will not pay the £20m+ we would expect for Morgan...absolutely no chance! He would probably offer £10 + one or two over paid fringe players to help his FFP out. Also, I bet JRod is watching every move of this, if we let Morgan go JRod will follow the same trail once he has "earned" his Saints wages on the recovery table and got fit ready to go into a sulk for the January window
