It's not as if McGregor is making massive errors in these freekicks. Yaya Toure's was right in the top corner, Suarez's was decent. Gerrard he could've done better and I would say the only one was Carzola's where he made the fatal error of predicting the flight of the ball. Lampard's on the opener was just poor judgement. On a whole he's a good keeper and one of the best we've had due to his quality distribution and confidence within his 6 yard area when needed. I liked Myhill but he's half the keeper Greggsy is and if his only flaw is the freekick awareness (something they can work on) then I'm not as bothered
I'd counter that with the comment you posted that for nostalgic reasons. I agree with the OP, there is a glaring weakness with free kicks. I'd also agree with the other poster as to the merits of a wall but with out a wall you wouldn't get a curler, you get the person with the thunderbolt which would be another problem

kinda like putting the penalty spot outside the area? hmm I could see how that could be easier for the keeper.
Overall he is an excellent keeper, and most keepers have an area of their game that has a weak point, and also feel free kicks are his weakest area. I actually put it down to his height, he is only 1.83m, which for a keeper is not that tall, as mostly he seems to get beat in the top corners.
