It's not unusual for a young lad moving from a Premier League club to have a 25% sell on clause, but you're right, it's normally closer to 10%.

And he was, and still is, a terrific player. But no Premier League team has seen fit to offer him the chance to add to those 11 games. I hope one does soon, but promotion for Blackburn looks his best chance at the moment.

Always a good player with the ball the one thing he needed to improve on was his ability to get up and down the pitch, in many ways he plays like huddlestone but not as good but still a very decent player

Like many have said, there was always a good player in there, but he didn't get the opportunities he would have liked with us. It was better for him to move on to progress his career. In hindsight, both he and City have improved, that's the result everybody wanted.

Probably true, but I have no doubt that if he doesn't make it with Blackburn, he will with someone else.

I seem to remember he got injured against Doncaster in the league cup, we lost 3-2. I think it was difficult then for Cairney to get back in the first team. He is I think an excellent player, got a glowing report in the game today and I think is loving his football in a team that he is a key member of, I don't think that would have happened here. He's a confidence player, like most and I think the move to Blackburn along with Evans was the correct one for both parties.

Lets hope a premier league manager somewhere, sometime, shares your faith in him.

If given the choice, we know which Blackburn player most City fans would take off their hands...and it wouldn't be Cairney.

If he keeps playing like that, even if Blackburn don't get promoted, the three teams that do would surely be tempted to make them an offer.

He always looked good on the ball, his only problem was that he lacked PL pace in fact he seemed to lack any pace.

He looked excellent after his initial 6 month loan spell, I can only assume he'd said he wanted to be first choice or he wouldn't renew.

No disputing it was a good move for Tom, his development is testament to that, and we got a good deal given the circumstances, but it should never have got to that. Rather than Bruce I guess the main culprit at fault was that ****ing obnoxious imbecile blockhead Pearson who rather than develop a real quality youngster instead opted to play a pointing James ****ing Harper instead and never gave him a chance. From there, Nick and Steve both tried to give him opportunities but he kept getting injured, Sod's law.

Crying shame really, he'd have been excellent to have on our roster this season, taking our UEL numbers up to 22. We can't really go back in for him until another club has had an offer accepted to match either, as with the sell on clause if we're the ones setting the price, Blackburn will add whatever we save from his clause on top.

Too slow! Wanted more time on the ball then anyone was gonna give him! You felt like giving him a gee up when you watched him play! ( my view obviously ) keep up the great work Brucey!

how old is cairney now, 22/23? i do expect him to end up in the top flight eventually, not all players are stars when young, he was brilliant on the ball, but too slow and weak, he just didn't really fit in for us after the premier league, it happens, he's now getting game time every week after being blackburns player of the season

i'm surprised he's not had a callup for scotland

Lot of revisionism going on here. It wasn't so much Harper but McKenna and Evans who kept him out. There were very few of us championing TC on here. Most thought McKenna was ace which he wasn't he was ****ing ****
