Its interesting because with some players you a feel that their honesty and integrity is genuine, and Morgan was one of these for me, so really disappointed. Lovren was a bit twitter happy and gushing too soon, I know we all thought it was great, but he clearly couldn't wait to **** off. I won't give up hope of good players staying at a club, not yet, I'm too much of a romantic!
He should **** off and continue rebuilding. If Rumours of a 10m bid are true then let him rot in reserves until a reasonable offer is received
Yeah, hugely disappointed by this. And also wondering if there might really be something rotten going on at the club. Which-- as I've said before-- I'd at least have some respect for Schneiderlin if he made some sort of reasonable public statement about his issues.
I'd tell him he's not being sold, he's playing tomorrow and completely blank him. Probably making the situation far worse.
There is nothing rotten going on at the club...a decent guy like Fonte is happy to be here. A group of players had the chance to move to big clubs on big money...Morgan missed the boat and is sulking. A bigger man would have accepted the compliment that he was wanted at a club where he was previously happy, but there you are. He has already been warned about making public statements, so don't expect anything there.
What was really refreshing for me was how open Koeman was talking bout it. No bullshit. Just hit nail on head. Note no one is asking about what he didn't say ( as they so often did with other managers). He respected the player but left no one in any doubt about the current position. PR as it should be.
I'm not so sure there is too much rotten in the club at the moment. I think there will be players with a point to prove. Fonte signing is a good, and he clearly believes we have a good coach.
Why should that be the case? As much as we don't want to lose him he's angling to move to a far more prominent team than us, with a manager who's been in his ear for months telling him that he's the best around and that he should follow. Nothing going on here but the usual bullshit. Tapping up, player power, selfish nonsense.
Well, if you're trying to leave the club what better way than to do something you were warned against? But I suspect you're right. None of these players have said anything because none of them have a case. My guess is they *were* promised things by Cortese so now feel like the promises have been broken. But they can't now very well come out and say "I was promised triple my wages and a Bentley, that's the only reason I play for this club."
Did anyone read the article in the Independent. Poch conducted his whole interview in English apparently. We clearly weren't a deserving audience!
I'd probably have taken Sigurdsson and £15-£20 million, but that boat has gone now. Chadli I'm not so sure on but definitely a position we need depth in.
As far as Morgan is concerned he must realise now the club is not going to back down. Even for £30m + Lamela. He should get his head down and maybe see how the next four months go. My only sympathy for Morgan is based on the fact that he is a better player than any of those who have left so far and he is being made an example because he is the one player who is really key to our team and style of play (and someone reckoned he was a nice guy and less likely than the others to throw his toys out of the pram)
Am I the only one who has some sympathy for Morgan ? He has been with us for ages , Lovren has not .They let Lovren go but not Morgan ? I really want this matter settled , and I want him to stay , but to think he owes us anything anymore , is , imho asking to much . Get the best price and let him go with good grace . Scapegoat springs to mind...................
It was a condition of his employment allegedly and he agreed. Personally I don't think he comes across as well speaking English. Just keeps repeating his limited vocabulary. Anyway, he's history.
the club wouldn't give him time to visit his dying brother or wish him a happy birthday or give him a bugatti.
EVERYONE has a price. The board would happily turn the fans on him and take 30m. It makes perfect sense to unite a somewhat splintered fanbase against players who are forcing themselves out of the club.
the great thing about this kind of thing is when a footballer tries to set the record straight they often prove to be an even bigger waste of flesh than originally thought.
I'm not sure it's something that has happened this summer. But it may be something that happened while MP and/or NC were here. Too many players leaving for this to be just your standard "big club takes from smaller club" scenario. I'm sure the lure of big pay was a huge part of it, but not at all of it. If it were just the money, we could offer Schneiderlin a new contract. We might not have been able to do that with ALL the players, but certainly with the amount we've taken in and the few players we have left, we could give him a pretty substantial raise. And it can't be that he needs to be in CL for the French team to take a look at him, because Spuds are only in crappy Europa and I don't think anyone cares too much about that. But he just wants to leave, and is willing to go to huge lengths to get it.
