How stupid must Legia feel. He played 2 mins when 6-1 up on aggregate. I know they may have been expelled cos he was on the bench anyway but it's not like he influenced the result in any way, shape or form. Edit - is that Legia kicked out of euro competition completely or is it just a result as if they lost and they're in the Europa League?
Platini gets to choose a French team to enter the Europa league in Celtic/Legia's place. Legia's own fault, I am so unbelievably pissed off with them. Of all the ****ing teams to do that to it'd have to be that bunch of ****s. I was hoping those knuckle dragging barbarians would be out of Europe before the season even began.
Such a blatant and pointless mistake makes you wonder if there was more to it than just a simple misunderstanding.
Do Celtic have another CL qualifying round to go through? If so they will no doubt get anally probed for 180 mins again
Yet more inconsistency from UEFA. Debrecen did the same thing in almost exactly the same situation and got fined £15,000 as it was an innocent mistake that wasn't intended to affect the result.
That was a bit different, their player wasn't suspended/ineligible, his name was just missed off one of the forms submitted to the officials.
On the UEFA website, Legia Warsaw are now listed as a seeded team in our group, whereas Celtic were before.
Celtic will face NK Maribor in the Champions League play-offs. Hope they get tonked, but that's a kind draw.
It does seem harsh that it in no way has effected the result. Rules are rules, but I do hope it gets overturned. On another note, should the officials in charge of the match not be aware who should be ineligible, thus allowing this not to happen?
