Qwerty you sure on that, i was sure that in a penalty shoot out if the keeper made the save and the ball went away from goal then that was it no matter if it span back and went in. Say for example although i agree it would never happen, Rickie was to power a penalty the keeper saved it but the ball hit the ref and went in? This would obviously be ruled out but its the same as the ball spinning back into the goal.
If the ball spins back into the goal, its a goal as far as I am concerned. I've seen an example of it somewhere on You Tube. The goalkeeper is up celebrating and the ball spins into the net. Goal. Mind you those FIFA rules seem to say the opposite. Crazy though, a goalkeeper could push the ball onto the ground before it bounces in. No goal??? Weird.
http://www.gazetteandherald.co.uk/sport/swindontown/news/11396342._/? Oh dear. We'll never see Turnbull again. Liverpool have sent another whispering siren.
I hope Turnbull excels at Swindon. Whenever I've seen him play he's looked like he has all the physical qualities he would need.
If this was in normal 90 minutes it should not be ruled out as the Referee is constituted as being part of the pitch in these circumstances, not sure if this applies in a shoot out, a bit of a grey area. It should be when the Referee himself declares the ball to be "dead", but at what stage that is, is down to his discretion at the time.
Are you sure the last scenario wouldn't be a goal? Sounds unfair, but on what grounds would it not be a goal? Ref alert...please supply answer.
Yeah most views on it seem to be the referee decides when the ball is dead, so if it spins in to the goal then it all depends on the referee's view of it and how quickly he makes that decision. Anyway back on track are we completing any deals over the weekend who is ITK.
So if it's true that we have a player on "standy" having completed a medical, surely that gives us a day or 2 max to get target number one over the line?
Didnt he play there a few times for the U21s/pre-season this year? Or could he possibly be an option at RB?
I know it's only kid's football, but exactly this did cost my son's team an Under 12s tournament that was decided on a penalty shootout. Keeper saved it, ball span away then span back and, as all these kids were celebrating, it span over the line and the ref gave it. My boy was inconsolable. I still have a great photo of him looking disgusted with his runner's up medal.
I can't say i know much of Stephens or Turnbull, but if none of them moved ahead of Hooiveld in the pecking order, then i suspect their future is not bright.
http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/08082014-jordan-turnbull-swindon-loan-1812237.aspx Saints say just part of their development plans for him as they like the way Swindon play football. Not how we used to work, but worth a go I suppose. He probably wouldn't progress much here if he is not ready for the first team.
