So Robertson of Queens Park just a year ago has had a cracker of a year in SCOTLAND and that merits 2 or 3 million. Prozzy of Austrian league fame and 2nd division Bundesliga is worth a supposedly 2.6 million. Maguire, a league three defender commands in or about three million. A possible future player being raved about in Ireland is worth 100K - am I missing something here?
It's what consitutes a lot of money to the respective club though, I imagine £100k goes further at Cork City than £2.7m at a 2. Bundesliga side does.
Apologies for the poorly posed question you incredibly smart geniuses - I wish to restate it as follows: What makes a 20 year old Scottish kid who was rejected by Celtic at age 15, was playing as an amateur with Queen's Park a year ago, has had a singular excellent year in Scotland command a fee of circa 3 million while a 20 year old from Ireland who is being scouted by several Premier League clubs and Championship clubs is being valued at one thirtieth of that price? In terms of football standards, Celtic (the Gold Standard of Scottish football) were trashed by Legia Warsaw over two legs in the Champions League qualifiers. In the previous round, Legia Warsaw had a lucky draw with a League of Ireland side in the first leg (though they did trash them in the second leg). My query is simply on what basis lies such a discrepancy in the fee commanded?
Because he plays for Cork City? They can't afford to be rejecting bids as the others can. If this lads as good as everyone says he is he won't be staying for much longer so its better to get some cash for him then losing him for nothing.
I know that soccer is down the pecking order in Ireland and is completely overshadowed by the GAA. But it still seems odd that such a discrepancy can exist. Am I right in saying that the Norwegian league took a stance a few years ago to prevent their finest from being sold for half nothing to attractive leagues elsewhere by preventing any player from ever representing the country if they chose to play abroad before the age of 23?
Robertson was rejected by Celtic at age 15 because he was too small by their standards. He's now a healthy 5'10 and has a lot of talent.
Football is definitely not down the pecking order in Ireland they just couldn't give the slightest **** about their own local clubs.
I doubt he'll go for such a small fee, not if Arsenal, Man United, Everton and Tottenham are in for him... http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014...t-seamus-coleman-exit-as-arsenal-united-and/?
That must be it, which is odd as they are canny enough in matters business in general, - Seamus Coleman for 60K???????
i was on chatroullete the other day, i didnt have my knob out, but i randomly bumped into falcao and he was saying he would pick the club of any one on chat roulette who made him laugh well lads, he ain't coming to hull
It's on Sky Sports News, signed on a free transfer. Good signing for them, if he applies himself and gets the chances he'll be great for Brentford.
