A fully fit Carrick would walk into the side. Maybe the change in regime will help Cleverley progress. He was dreadful under Moyes, but so was everyone!

  5. If you play Carrick as the holding midfielder in a 433 type system you'll be adapting the mentality we had last season; score more than them!

Ive always back ffp and can see it working already.

Its not flawless yet. Some clubs are taking the piss.

  7. I'm convinced you were dead set against it  Maybe I'm mixing you up with chief who certainly doesn't think it will work?

don't get me wrong, I understand people having reservations about it and we have plenty on our board the same. I just sat back a little to see who it panned out rather than throwing my hat either side of the rope <ok>

One of or both of vidal and strootman soon enough.

Plus you do realise thats why hes playing 352 just now. A lack of steel im the middle. Thanks for unwittingly proving my point.

So you think. There's no guarantee he wont play that system even with a defensive midfielder coming in. Anyway, I'm just pulling your pisser. Very sensitive today....sandy crack? ;)

Carrick as the middle cb in a 3 with herrera, mata and clev in midfield.

Midfield is on the weak side but technically its amazing and should out pass most teams.

    That too.

End of the day loads are still missing so hes made do with what we have.

Doesnt change tge fact that van gaals preferred formation is 433. If he can play it, he will.

You'll never get the ball back with them 3 in midfield but as long as you kick off, you should out pass everyone for a while ;)

And any midfield with Cleverley in it is not amazing!!

  15. Fair enough, Brod prefers a 433 too but we've play 442, 4411, 451, 41212, etc too. The best managers adapt to suit the players they have at first whilst they buy players in the play the way they want the team to play. Rafa did the same when he first arrived at Liverpool too. It looks like you'll start the season with a 532/352 system but who's to say it stays that way all season?

  16. I don't rate Cleverley anywhere near as much as I did when he was first breaking through. Back then, I thought he would be a great asset to have because his work ethic and energy levels were brilliant but he seems to have gone backwards with everything else. If you put him in the side with the sole purpose to run and harass the opposition, it could suit him very much. Still think you need better but he's a stop gap.

The smug sheik whatever his name is will arrange a back hander to some arabian paper firm to supply the cups and plates for the half time tea break at 95mill. Then they can buy new players.

Financial Fair Play league? What were Ricky Tomlinsons. words, Ah yes, "My arse"

Watched Cleverley progress through the reserves on MUTV, and when he progressed through to the first team, it was exactly that, progress. But then Moyes arrived, and bar a couple of exceptions, everybody ended up playing garbage. Whether that was Moyes style, players reaction, or downright bolshie attitude to Moyes, we were dreadful.

Take the Moyes year out of the equation (and by god we all want to) and it might be an idea to stick for 12 months rather than twist now

  20. Don't ry and blame it on the Moyes era, Cleverley was poor before David arrived <laugh>
