Liverpool are planning to replace Luis Suarez with the statement signing of Monaco striker Radamel Falcao according to Italian journalist Mina Rzouki. "Meetings today & a very good source told me Liverpool have the advantage for Falcao. It's not yet done. Falcao is between Liverpool and City but the former quite a bit in the lead to land the player. What a coup it would be," she tweeted last night. Since then bookmakers have slashed the odds on the 28-year-old Colombian striker moving to Anfield according to the Daily Star.
Ian Ayre heads to Monaco with £30m to get Falcao. He comes back missing a tooth, with a face tattoo, and Dimitar Berbatov in the #7.
Falcao was the third best in the world before he went to Monaco. ****ing incredible player. And as such i don't think he's coming here. Though we could afford him, especially as we're about to shift Agger, Reina and Suarez is gone.
Are they taking it seriously or just quoting a rumour? I have no idea if she's in any way reliable (not that I believe it'll happen in any case).
I hate reading rumours like the Falcao one. Its very unlikely to happen and I refuse to get carried away with any rumours I read, never mind ones like this. But at the same time, you can't help but think how it would effect the team and style. Falcao would be a awesome signing for us and I'd have happily taken a swap between him and Suarez plus some cash prior to the summer.
Falcao is still a world class player but I can't see us going in for him - 28 years old, coming back from a serious injury, plays in one position, huge wages. Cannot see FSG sanctioning this one. Also, I really can't see us going for Bony unless we have no other alternatives. He's another one dimensional player and I think Rodgers wants players who are versatile. As a backup/Plan B - then brilliant. But I doubt the player would want that. My choices would Volland or Lacazette. Two highly rated, talented youngsters.
