Well the real season starts in earnest in a few days and now we need to see the proof of improvement that we are supposed to believe. Many comings and goings in the off-season but you also have to realise that the same can be said about the rest of the teams in League 1 and the answers as to who has done the best in the rebuild for the new season stakes will soon become apparent. Would I be right in assuming, from afar, that we have a slight problem between the sticks and might still have some defensive issues that have not been addressed? With all of you being on the ground, so to speak, you have a much better handle on the situation than us overseas supporters, so give us your brutally honest opinion of what has been happening with the rebuild under the direction of Steve Cotterill. Couldn't help but notice the mind games already being played by our first opponents, but if we have the squad that we think we have then going up to Bramall Lane and stuffing it up them then the psychological battle will have been won by us, which leads me back to the thread - "have we done enough".
Could go either way the defence, El abd turns it around and comes up to the plate and we end up all loving him. and Fielding came here with high expectations, who knows? A confident start will make all the difference, we need players who aren't weighed down by the shirt. (Fontaine.!) To be honest I would be happy to get Nosworthy in and another keeper. but....
What's happening with Nosworty, is he just waiting for an offer or have I missed something? Of a similar nature what's happening with Moore? When does the early transfer window close and do you think another player(s) could be brought in? Just googled an answer on the transfer window and it looks like we can get a few games under our belt before final decisions on other targets need to be acted upon.
Closes on 31 August. Moore now number two at least at Cardiff as Joe Lewis gone to Blackpool on loan for the season. If SC had wanted Nosworthy, he would be here now but with two mid thirties signings, Elliott and Wilbraham, perhaps another 35 year old was a bridge too far? SC has stated this week that he wants another three in. A keeper and two others. Watch the news bulletins.
'A confident start will make all the difference - agree. Our main priority this summer was to keep Baldock and bring in 'Shaun Taylor' and a good keeper. Cotterill has done only part of it. Having to score 3 to win a game will drag us all down - unless El Abd and Co massively improve. Can't see it. Victor.
At home we need to score at least 2 every game, away at least 1 last season with a poor start we netted 70 so 2 and 1 = 69 so shouldn't be hard ! ! ! although we did conceed 69 ! win at home 14 games, win away 9 games T H A T S .. O U R .. M IN I M U M 69 POINTS PLUS THE DRAWS
Any Manager always wants more. The team and squad is set up to attack v containing, and there is more than enough in the squad to hit the ground running Anything less than promotion is failure. Mr Lansdown is again providing a budget than exceeds most of the division.
To be serious contenders we need to win 16 plus home games in my opinion and there is no reason why we cant achieve that
