Four Four Two's excellent yearly pre-season Compendium is out Has us down to finish 23rd sandwiched between Blackpool and Brentford - although they admit they aren't normally especially good at predicting Charlton's position! They say Lawrie Wilson is our key man and that his form last season was the highlight of a difficult year. Which is comparable to if you lost everything in a flood but your 3 year old learnt to swim because of it The most annoying thing in it this year is the fan's view - someone called 'Kyle Andrews' who manages the 'chrispowellsflatcap.wordpress.com' site (never heard of it, don't wanna) says amongst lots of nonsense that someone called @plentyofshots is the best Charlton fan to follow on Twitter (as opposed to me...) Where do they find these people? Shockin. Juss Shockin...
I've seen that blog appear on NewsNow - and in truth have never been that impressed by it. Though, being honest I do think we lack a good blog. Wyn Grant has gone down in my estimations in the past few years. A good omen for us, this is: In our promotion winning season they had as down as relegation candidates - we won the league. Last season they had us down for reaching the play offs - we escaped relegation with 1 game remaining. So obviously I am sending this message with £100 in my pocket, heading towards my nearest William Hill to get my 80-1 odds on CAFC to win the league..
We certainly won't be in the top 6 Mike Personally I am quite looking forward to the trip to Brentford on Saturday. It will be a bit like the moment Dr Frankenstein pulls the sheet off his creation for the first time, and we all stand and marvel....
Great analogy Looking at the weather forecast, the lightning he requires to jump start the monster won't appear until Sunday. I seem to recall that all the stitching for Doctor Frankenstein was carried out by Igor and at least we have one of these. ( or am I confusing Shelly with Pratchett)
I can see it going one of two ways on Saturday ....I wouldn't be surprised to see us grind out a 1-0 win....equally I would not be surprised to see us lose 4-0.
I can see it going one of three ways, we win, we draw or we lose. Either way it'll be an interesting afternoon.
Prediction Shmediction. What does Four Four Two know..? What will be will be, and as usual (especially where Charlton Athletic are concerned) what happens in real life will be beyond the wildest fantasies of what is possible to predict. I will follow this club anywhere, if only out of curiosity. I've been doing it all my life and I've never yet been able to predict what will happen on any given Saturday, let alone over a whole season. Events will take their course, but whatever transpires, as sure as eggs is eggs, Four Four Two won't see it coming.
