Frydays in Anlaby - the best chippy in the Hull/Haltemprice area bar none, and luckily it's my local!
Brian Fields Hunters pies are bloody awesome. Have to agree about Frydays usually use Cott rather than Anlaby although
The other one in Brough is 53 degrees north. Have been a few times and I like the way they cook the fish to order so you don't get one that is sat in the warmer for ages. Also if you ask for scraps, you get a bagful and not one or two on your chips.
Now i have a dilemma.... I am back for the game and was going to go to star in Willerby for tea before the game, but now you have mentioned Frydays all of a sudden i have an urge to have that instead. (I also miss Brian Fields meat pies as well, and wouldn't have minded trying one of those as well......just to confuse things further)
I have to agree, although a long trip out, it is always worth it. May have to visit Dundee Fisheries for a special before the match tonight.
The F&C thread comes around every now and again, and the Hornsea ones usually get a mention. Whiteheads seems to be very popular at the moment, they've recently extended the dining area and there's often a queue outside waiting to be seated. We're spoilt in Hornsea for chippy's as there isn't a bad one. However.........you can't beat Frydays, Anlaby!
Frydays is great but if you are in the area and need a second choice chippy John's Plaice on Willerby Road is a close second and cheaper option.
I completely agree, nothing but disappointment elsewhere, I live in Leeds and there's one nice place in central Headingley called Brett's that's worth a visit, the rest are just dire.
The other one in Anlaby opposite Sainsburys is good enough for me, also don't have to queue and wait for hours. Can't say I noticed that much difference and I use Frydays too
There's a van that goes around some of the villages, his were superb. Think he still stops at Family centre but when I went a few weeks ago it was a different guy. It didn't taste the same. I use Funky Fish all the time and there's nothing wrong with it, the other one is mediocre. Mind you, Larabellas takeaway isn't terrible and Medicis is good if you don't mind paying a bit extra. Dunno what happened to Royals in Newport, that's gone way down hill.
Royals shut down a while back, there's a new one there now that's much better, we use it instead of Larabellas.
