"We arent, OP is a c**t, DERAIL AWAY!" Although you make good points, Hendo needs to stop leaning back when shooting
Stop the crack, DR. You are overdiagnosing c**tness and musing about offences I have never given. Also, the avatar is here to stay. It has acquired a new subtle meaning since Luis's departure. But subtlety is nails on the chalkboard for some.
Strange, as I never recall to have engaged in any exchange with you on this forum. Real strange. Are you empathising with some poster I inadvertently trampled on a few months back? That's quite sweet. Aaaww...
Not really sure what all this is about, but if you don't like someone on here you can put them on ignore
You're still short of goals there. We still need ~75 goals, even with a great defence. A new striker is a must, so that Sterling can be used as third goalscoring option, rather than second. He'd be more threatening and less man-marked that way.
But if we get a new striker, they'd take someone else's place in your list and you'd have to subtract their goals (like you did when you added Lallana and Markovic) no?
I'll urge on the side of caution but see these as potential amounts for our players in the league this year, assuming everyone stays fit. Sturridge - 15-20. He got 20 last year playing 2nd fiddle to Suarez. Yes, Suarez may have created a lot of them, but in theory Sturridge should be able to replicate his total from last year if he stays fit. Sterling - 10. He got 9 in near enough half a season last year so can see him doing similar in a season this year if not more. Gerrard - 7-10. No doubt he'll take over from Suarez when it comes to free kicks, so should get a couple there as well as a few pens an hopefully one or two from open play. Henderson & Coutinho - 5 each. Think that's a sensible return for both of these. Lallana - betweem 5-10. Got double figures for Southampton last year so knows where the back of the net is. Lambert - 5. Will get limited chances this year (unless ew don't sign a new stiker) but can still see him getting a 1 in 2/3 goal return this season. Markovic - 4 or 5. New league, but scored goals at his last 2 clubs and another year older should have matured into a better player. defenders - 10 between them. Sakho/Skrtel/Lovren should be getting at least 10 between them. All very good in the air and should be getting on the end of the corners/free kicks. That equals about 60-75 goals. could maybe do with a few more depending on how the defence actually does.
Lallana and Markovic detract from Coutinho, Hendo's and Sterling's playing time mainly. A new striker would impact more in terms of goals, as he goes straight into the space inefficiently occupied by Lambert and Borini.
I'd guess the point is if you replaced someone like Borini, and lets say he would play 1000 minutes & score 2 goals in that playing time, the new striker could score every 100 minutes & score 10 in a 1000 minutes giving you +8 goals over Borini
That's assuming we're playing 2 up front? If it's only 1 up front then he'd impact on Sturridge's goals as he'd surely rotate with Sturridge?
If the new striker is to be rotated with Sturridge - rather than play alongside him - he better be Cavani or Benzema (not happening). Sturridge will always be playing unless injured methinks.
