Has to be the best fish in town. The chips are a little sub standard though. The large fish option is exceptional. More a whale than a fish. I used to be a fan of Cave Street chippy but, alas, it's a not a decent option anymore. In respect of West Hull Fish and Chips...it's the best. Thanks.
There's two in Brough, but I don't use them, Funky Fish looks good, but isn't and the other one's just average. Ferriby used to be the best, but it does Pizza's now and it's not the great chippy it once was. Johnny Haddocks in Newport is my local.
Have to agree about Frydays. The fact there is always a massive queue is testament to the quality, and anyone who gets a large fish is just a greedy bastard.
for us ex Hull residents- where in Anlaby is this frydays- seriously disappointed with standard of fish and chip shops ive tried the times ive come back " home"
Love Fridays too (I use cott more than anlaby though)! It's now back up though as I use the chip van in skidby on a Friday. Bloody lovely.
Went with the cricket team when we were playing in Hornsea but it was very poor, the chips where awful and choice of fish size wasn't great either.
Crash Gate, I don't suppose you'd know if they they cook in beef dripping or vegetable oil per chance?
Frydays is my local chippy when I'm home and it is exceptional. Also is it Fields next door? Their food was fantastic - particular the bacon butties. Anlaby and the shops down Springfield way look like a different place to when I were a lad...
Love fields steak pies, Fridays like crash gate says is good, fish great but sometimes a lot of scrappy chips
I haven't been in a very long time - but the chippy in wetwang was amazing! What's it like now? No decent chippies in this part of the world!!
Me and Dad we're planning on popping over early tomorrow for a pre-match fish and chips. We'll give Frydays a try. Cheers.
I will try Browns next time i am up there Filey because someone who i know who goes there quite often mentioned it the other day as well
