Sevilla sporting director Monchi on(Dan laces out) Moreno: "He's training very well and preparing for a big game for Sevilla, and no more than that. "There is a club that do or have wanted him, but today we think that he will stay at Sevilla and play in the final in Cardiff." Looks like there might still be some doubt on Sevilla's end.
I think they were always reluctant to let him go before this big match. So either we are allowing him to play or they are ****ing us about. Fed up with it to tell you the truth. IF he does come he better be worth it.
Also with benzema signing a new contract our options get smaller by the day. Suddenly Bony seems a great option.
Ok calm down. I was just commenting that it's dragged on for a long time. Also remember Carroll was for 5 years not a few weeks.
so was.... suarez... unlike carrol moreno hasn't a serious injury nor a ponytail land a drink problem.
Benzema = Bony I can see exactly how Bony would work for us tactical and like it. This will therefor be a good deal.
Don't see this happening. Good player and would be happy to have him but think he will stay at psg or go to Italy. How did valbuena go for only for a low fee and to Moscow?
I would rather Bony to Lavezzi. Bony a player who scored a boatload of goals and assists, in England, for a "smaller" team. Or Lavezzi a player who has average 1 goal in 5 games in the last few seasons, surrounded by a stronger more expensive team in an easier foreign league. I know stats don't tell the whole story- but we need a goalscorer not a famous name. Age: Bony Younger than Lavezzi. Price: Bony cheaper than Lavezzi. Goals: Bony scores more than Lavezzi. Assists: Bony assists more than Lavezzi. Familiarity with English football: Bony more familiar with English football. Head to head- I pick Bony.
As long as there is someone else... (better) To not sign either... and then not sign anyone else would be a bit of a disaster considering: a) Sturridge rarely lasts 90 mins. b) Sturridge is frequently injured. Lambert and Peterson don't fill me with confidence as our only backups. (assuming Borini gone).
Our problem is that there's simply not many (if any) top drawer strikers available. Really not convinced Bony is good enough, but I don't see any other options. Do we take go for him anyway or save the money and try our luck in January and hope our current crop can manage?
Half a season is a long time to go with only one striker. Top 4 is going to be tight again this season. We could drop a lot of points if Studge gets injured. Whatever money we have left- spend on a top striker. Bony is better than nothing... I agree there may be better options out there- but I can't think of any off hand.
The danger with waiting until January is if Sturridge gets injured for any length of time we could be well adrift relying on Lambert and Peterson. Assuming Borini goes, but he is not prolific in any event even if he stays
We just can't afford to wait til January. And even if we did who is likely to be available? Most top players are either moving now or signing new contracts. If it's left til January the targets available now might not be available then. We should just go all guns blazing to try and attract reus. If not him then Bony is the alternative. Unlike some I don't have a problem with him but if there is better then get them now!
Lavezzi would be the closest thing to replacing Suarez. Maybe not the goals but the work ethic, creativity and flexibility. this would create space for others such as Studge and Sterling to exploit as per last season.
