It's a stupid clause. So we've spoke to a player about how much they want, how they will fit into the team, what our future goals are; to then not even get a bid accepted! Its a ****ing joke!

Basically the clause allows clubs to tap him up, but legally.

You are looking at this from your club's perspective, now we took this lad from non league football and gave him a chance, think it was £70k we paid Wrexham, now a clause for £1m that allowed other teams to speak to him appeared to be the thing to do, we as a club didn't know how he would get on.

Now his blood sucking agent is the cause of this, all he sees are pound signs, nothing more, so he tells everyone who cares to listen that a clause is there, what value it is, an he can get taylor to sign, basically tapping up the player because he negotiated the deal in the first place, its against the FAs rules to encourage people to break contracts with clubs, not that agents give a toss, as the FA is completely useless in regulating the scum bags!

clearly he doesnt have a release clause just a you can talk to other clubs if they are willing to offer 1M clause. to be honest though it seems like swansea are just being as stubborn as possible if he wants to join us he will eventually join us no doubt swansea know this and them playing 'hardball' is just to make us offer more so they can make a better profit on him

Your club obviosuly agreed to have this clause put in his contract. Having a clause "to talk to a player" is just stupid.

Isn't that sound business sense? Thing is Jenkins our chairman will not allow us to be taken for a ride, well unless we get rewarded for it, he is one stubborn guy ;)

Why? have you bought him for a million, listen we hold the aces here, he is OUR under contract, its up to us if we want to try and sell him, if you don't like the way we do business, you know what there are plenty of other teams you can try and muscle a player out from under them, it will not happen with a player at our club, unless its on our terms, I would guesstimate that £2m-£3m will be needed

It all depends on what he wants. Seen it time and time before if the player wants to move theres not much you can do about. Fair play not letting yourself be 'bullied' by other clubs but there comes a point where you've done all you can do

But the clause is ridiculous, we have no obligation to buy him but having offered a very low fee we have unsettled him and he is now trying to force a move. It's like you want us to tap him up, but make it legal.

In a way Im kind of pleased with this, from what I have heard is Swansea fans dont rate him, and maybe seems like another Perch sort of deal (however impossible that may sound)

He was only going to be a bench warmer so to have a bid rejected is no biggy, although that has to be one of the weirdest clauses ever!!

Of course you have no obligation to buy, like we have no obligation to sell! And if we do sell it may not be to you, I wouldn't be surprised if he now goes out on loan instead, oh unless you up the price significantly, and if he doesn't perform on the biggest shopping window in the world, he will never get a dream move!

or unless he refuses to play because you blocked his transfer!!!!!!! what would you do then? just keep him sat there collecting his wages?
It's the same with all players. If they want to leave there's only so much you can do to keep them before it becomes a waste

Yes they will pack him off to port talbot if nobody else will have him, and let him rot there! then he can leave on a free in a couple of year's time and play for TNS or maybe a league 2 club if he is lucky!

Oh and if he refuses to play he will be in breach of contract , and his job is is to play if fit!

I'm baffled. Football Manager is obviously the place that we base our lives on, and if someone offers money for a player who has a release clause, and that clause has been matched, I can't reject it. If Football Manager does it, then Swansea have to!

Seems logical to me! I think we should take this to the FA as proof! <ok>
