    Cheers, CS.
    I do try! <laugh>

That's a wonderful statistic KPR, but what meaning does it have to anything that we've discussed?
    I'm going to guess... none?
    Am I right?

Spurs needed to capitalize on their good form in January and sign a prolific striker while things were looking extremely positive for them in terms of league position and champions league glory. They had just qualified easily out of a group containing the current European champions, the current Dutch champions and a team that had finished 3rd in a highly competitive Bundesliga. They didn't and now they're destined for Europa league football for the forseeable future.

You were doing well up til the last sentence, Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaul.
It's hard to tell what's going to happen with a lot of teams at the moment, so I wouldn't like to make that sort of prediction.

I stand by it. The top 4 positions will be contested between Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd & Chelsea for atleast the next 5 years.

    Raaul.
Thats correct.Poll didn't answer my question whether Spurs can compete with a financially powerful Liverpool. They did and fair play to them as there is nothing wrong with benefitting from Liverpool being in disarray since 2009.

League positions aren't determined at random though. Its nothing alike <doh> Its like if I said Barcelona will win La Liga next season, it hardly means I'm a psychic.

    What question?!
You've ignored every single one of mine and just kept parroting the same load of old balls that you started with, despite being proven wrong repeatedly.

No, but if you said that the 5 teams at the top of La Liga would be the same for the next 5 years, then it'd be a pretty baseless assertion.
Would you have picked City to be part of the top 4 if you were making this prediction 5 years ago?
    Probably not.
Would you have picked Liverpool to not be in Europe 5 years ago?
Again, I'm going to say no.

    Answer the question.
Can Spurs compete now that Liverpool are now financially powerful.I did say fair play to them from benefitting from Liverpool being in disarray, something that you dismissed as being nonsense.I don't think they can.The shoe as I said may now be on the other foot.

I think you're wrong and your attempt to suggest that Spurs are in some financial trouble is baseless.
I've already shown you that the figures you're basing your assumptions on are ridiculously inaccurate, but you don't seem capable of accepting that.

I've deliberately stayed out this thread but as its descended into farce I may as well be pedantic.

PleaseNot Poll, there is factually nothing wrong with Raaul's last scentance. You are in the Europa league for the next season and that is as far as any of us can guarantee. He is not making a prediction (that is purely your assumption), he is stating FACT.

It's quite clearly a prediction, Dave.
    He admits that it is.

I never said Spurs are in financial trouble. They do however and Redknapp has said so have to sell to buy.Maybe this has come from the top, that they have to balance their books,as they don't want to go the same way as Leeds.

Weren't you the same guy who was quoting Liverpools average points total over the past 20 years as being a relevant current guide to form though?

Well it was a much less predictable enviroment back then, there weren't Financial fair play rules being implemented back then which made it easier for clubs like Spurs and Man City to spend more than they make to get into the top 4 spots. The new FFP rules restrict you from doing so, which means I can make the prediction in confidence that a club won't be able to spend their way into the top 4 without making a deficit therefore making their overspending pointless.

And how is it baseless? It's based on the fact these 5 clubs have the strongest pulling power for players out of the PL, the strongest financial backing in the league and the strongest managment structures in the league along with some of the best players in the league. It's not baseless at all.

I believe that the reason we need to sell before we buy is down to the vast number of players that we have on the books with no real value to the squad.
O'Hara was one and now he's gone.
    Keane is another.
Neither contributed anything to last season.

No, I was using the average points total to show that Spurs didn't benefit from some massive dip in form for a season and that Spurs would have finished above Liverpool in most years, with a points total of 70.

They have strong management teams with the exception of City.Mancini is not a top manager and is unlikely to ever be a top manager.City will be in contention for top four but not the title with Mancini in charge.

Spurs don't overspend, quite the opposite and we've yet to see how effective any financial fair play rules will be, assuming that they'll actually be introduced.

It's baseless because you have no idea what's going to happen 5 years from now.
Man Utd could go bust tomorrow from sound random unfortunate series of events that nobody's seen coming.
Chelsea's new manager could flop horribly.
    Villa might flourish under McLeish.

Making a prediction for next season is going out on a limb a little, as most teams still have the majority of their transfer business to do.
Predicting the next 5 years is just ludicrous.
