All to play for after the first leg ended 0-0,first ever home European game, reduced prices,no tv coverage, kids off school, new season about to start, expensive new players on show, new strip and unreserved seating to boot. Some games are so hard to predict in terms of numbers eh ? Could you imagine the crowd if our local rag had actually shown more than a fleeting interest in whats happening away from the gerramonside minority ?
It was at the University of Michigan. It actually wasnt even at full capacity, full capacity is something like 109,990 so it was really close to a sell out. Our football stadiums can get quite large.
Its a university stadium but yea American Football. Their football (soccer) team most likely has its own stadium and probably doesnt use that one. Thats how it worked at my university anyway.
Meanwhile our local rag still managed to find the headline busting quotes they were really looking for when fans were quoted yet again as still not believing "City are actually a Premier a League" side whilst dredging the old chestnut passion killer of "remember were the club was" ****ing Yonks ago bla bla bla...sigh.
And 'Should Curtis Davies sign for a bigger club'? The 'news' that Thursday was a sell out was tucked away at the bottom of a page, in the very last paragraph, of the half a column City received, five pages into the Sports Section, all the others were taken up by rugby league.
The fact is the club should not be relying on the HDM or anyone else to be bigging them up and doing their marketing for them. The club should be doing it for themselves, through all sorts of channels (including making the most out of HDM, RH) as well as directly. They aren't though; they continue to be shockingly dreadful in such areas.
What good is it publishing that its a sell out? Its not like we can sell any more tickets! Also, there are twice as many RL teams than there are football, even if each were covered fairly and equally (which I accept they are not) then there'd still be double the RL news on there compared to football.
I certainly wouldn't want to be the last few to find seats in each stand. How will they know where the free seats are with unallocated seating??
You know what I mean OLM, Which entrance do they go in etc etc, Easy enough when the tickets have seat numbers on them. I can see loads of potential problems on Thursday because the club haven't thought it through properly. Surely they must have expected a bumper crowd yet they still started selling tickets with the south stand and upper west closed. They haven't got a clue!
Underestimated demand = poor excuse Takes time and costs more = poor excuse. No priority for season pass holders= no excuse. Shabby at it's best.
That's rich coming from you. I really don't get your problem, is it really that important that pass holders get to sit in their exact seat? How did you manage when we had terracing? Let's face it if your that bothered (which I'm sure most are not) you can just get there early. The club got this one spot on, cheap tickets available to all and as a result its sold out. Some t**ts just love an opportunity to moan.
If the match is all ticket and they travel without tickets they would not and should not get in. The number of people travelling from Slovakia for this game without a ticket is estimated at nil.
What's the problem though? That you wanted to sit in your own seat? Man the **** up, sit somewhere else and enjoy our first ever European home game.
