Saints paid 7 million for J Rod and he's now an established player for them who scored 16 league goals last year so it's no wonder they want big money for him as why should they sell players without making big profits, I'm sure Levy understands their stance. Although that doesn't mean we should pay over the odds for average players as we have been there, done that with David Bentley and Darren Bent!
Schneiderlin's position just isn't a necessity IMO. I'd rather see Poch get the best out of what we have. Yes, there's a lot of similarities with many of our current CM's, but some decent coaching and guidance should be enough for those players to shine. Whatever the fee for Schneiderlin is, I can't help but think that all we'd be doing is adding a number, rather than improving the quality. If the club is prepared to spend this sort of money, I'd rather it was spent on another area of the squad. It just seems like such a sideways step to me and a "comfort" signing from Poch. I dread us doing what United did with Fellaini last year.
The seller wants to make as much as possible, and the buyer pay as less as possible. Soton have decided (for now) it seems that nobody else is going, so it will take "an offer they can't refuse" to possibly make them change their mind.
Think what a powerhouse those two would have been under Poch! Bentley would have been the new (right-sided) Bale, and Bent would have been the next Shearer! Jesus! We would have romped the title!

I've never seen this french lad play so not sure. I'm not keen on us going after people with a history of sulking and striking with our history (Berba, Modders, Bale etc)
Reading his Wiki stats he doesn't seem to be the most loyal. Signed for Lille in Jan 2013 and then joined Marseille in Sept 2013.
The fact he went through four clubs during his youth career should also set the alarm bells off as well.
Don't know enough about Depay but this seems a lot of money. Also harsh on Chadli - thought he showed glimpses last season that he could be useful for us. Also - he'd had a year to settle with us - we've seen what settling time has done for Lamela - Chadli could've had the same improvement

The signing of Depay this summer feels like the signing of chadli last summer. Now chadli's had a year with us, surely it's gotta be a better idea to keep him as he's had now a year to adapt? We could sign Depay and could have exactly the same situation with him in his first year, whilst chadli leaves and has an amazing season elsewhere. - So spursy. I'd rather we cash in on Lennon whilst we can still get half decent money for him. Or Townsend for that matter as I personally don't rate him. Not that I particularly rate chadli, but he needs another season!
