some might add goalie to that list, not personally, but we need a better back up than jones to challenge, as migs can be average at best and still a better option than jones. say for arguments sake we had migs for league and cl, and jones for cups, how many was hopeful of a cup this year? or confident that migs can handle the league and cl?
Has played there for Leverkusen a bit. Is big and strong and does like a tackle. I think he can transition to fully fledged DM easier than the likes of Allen. Saying that though, I would love to see Masch as DM with Hendo and Can bombing up and down as CMs.
Moreno came to my attention at the last u21 tournament in Israel, for me, he was one of their standout performers and that side contained the likes of Tiago, De Gea, Morata
that makes him sounds promising, but i also remember similar type of thing when coates was a star of a tournament, and we know how that one has turned out so far.
Good point, well made.... lets hope he doesn't have the same career progressions (regression) as Coates..
Reus release clause stated to be under £20 million. Surely we must bid on him! What a signing he would be.
Rodgers doesnt really go for a typical defensive mid though. he wants that player to be creative, building from the back and effecting play in both boxes. Rodgers calls Gerrard a nmidfield pivot. Can's versatility may make him perfect for this role.
Sounds like an MLS team. - Reports in Italy suggest Liverpool will approach Inter Milan over £19m rated 21 year-old striker Mauro Icardi, who Brendan Rodgers sees as the ideal replacement for Luis Suarez (Tutto Mercato)
At that price, the likes of Bayern, RM and Barca would be all over him and to be honest, if they approach him (along with us) he's likely to choose one of them over us... We don't have the same pull anymore, or not yet anyway, only way we'll get that type of pull again is we starting winning Leagues and getting to latter stages of the CL..
Bony's price has also come down apparently. I'd take Bony as well as A N Other top top striker but not as the top top striker we all want Got to jump on Reus now surely
if it's true, he does say he is looking for a big project, what would the project be going to bayern, barca or real, when they just buy up the best players and win things any way.
Yes you did. You said Terry, Cahill and Azpilacueta couldn't have been better because they finished below us. You say Skrtel was the only defender in an attacking team which won 11 on the bounce, but we only won 11 on the bounce because of our supreme attacking players. Not one game did we go 1-0 up in that run and then out on a defensive master lass to hold out for the win. Official stats? Official from who? And those 'stats' don't tell you how the scoring is done. Is it any surprise the ones at the top are the ones who scored the most goals/created the most assist? Those stars seem to favour goals far more than defensive stats. The obviously don't take into account goals conceded as Skrtel was in a team that conceded 50. Blame the others as well if you want but the defender is a unit and you're only as good as your weakest player.
He's injured isn't he? I'd still stump up £20m now for him. Real quality player, we'd soon forget about Suarez. As others have pointed out, at that price, we may be priced out of the market on wages. Assuming we sell Borini, Assaidi, Agger at the reported prices, we'd have a neutral net spend.......so we should break our feckin' necks trying to get him!!
Does he want the "same" project again? We're trying to do a similar job that Dortmund have done recently, in our purchasing, playing, (young coach) philosophy, does he want to go through that again with us or does he want something more ready made? He'd be a fantastic signing, but I just can't see it happening..
we are a big project in comparison to dortmund, you only have to see the pull of the club when on tour to see how big this club is compared to a lot of other clubs, only ones who are prob on same list will be barca, utd, real for the same pulling power. we are in terms of powerhouses a sleeping giant, completely dif type of project to what he has at dortmund. and how can it be a big project to go to barca, real, bayern when they are expected to be in most finals each season and wining things? as typing this i was wondering if utd could be appealing as finishing 7th last year for a club expected to be challenging for honours is a big project to get them back to that i suppose, hope not obviously.
I'd say that Barca are rebuilding, although much tougher competition for starting spots there. Utd would be part of that. As for us, It may be now or never. If we don't get top four this year, we'll be struggling to attract top talent again......although, hopefully, we'd have bought it all this year and will benefit as they develop.
