Thanks to DTLW for typing this up. Cheers fella. Good stuff. As for some of the negativity afterwards, I find it a disturbing lack of faith. The bloke fronts up and whether or not he is full of Canadian/American buzz words, he put out a few solid messages and what are several people just focusing on? Whether or not he was offered a coaching job and he must have lied through his teeth. I'm losing faith in Saints fans. It's getting boring to be honest. Some people must wake up every morning and look for a cloud.
Why do you think they didn't just come out in the beginning and say "We have inherited a vipers' nest. The club revolved around someone who positioned the media to adore him and the players to adore his disciple. We will fix it, but it is going to get messy." I am a big fan of brutal honesty.
I think that might've just encouraged other clubs more. They've said as much now. Pochettino deceived them and made off. There was somewhat of a mutiny/lack of commitment from several key players. Krueger believes you can isolate one or two and has chosen to do so with Jay and Morgan.
Because that lowers the fees we can command. "We don't need to sell...okay 25m twists our arm" is worlds away from "These ****s all want out, come and get them."
Again: not accusing him of being a lying liar who lies. Like a lot of salespeople, I think that the narrative can kinda take over at times with him, where the message ultimately trumps some of the details. And I think that's a large part of what has gotten him into trouble with the fanbase...when #positivekruegerspin meets harsh reality, people tend to assume that the intent was to deceive.
Of course, but of all the things that were said, some people launched into the hockey coaching bit. Who really gives a **** if he was offered a coaches job or a tea lady job, it's the stuff about Saints that matters.
I don't think it's unreasonable to question his statement as it pertains to whether the club is for sale or not, some fans still believe that is the case.
Krueger's interview with Jeremy Wilson of The Telegraph: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-Krueger-despite-93m-sale-of-key-players.html Krueger's interview with David Hytner of The Guardian: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/aug/05/southampton-transfers-finished?CMP=twt_gu
James, the bit I've been moaning about is only our fans moaning at whether he was or wasn't offered head coach jobs in hockey. Lots of info in there and some highlighted that as a negative. Yes he said it in context of the club being sold, but the fans moaning didn't.
Pretty sure their point is that if he's lying/exaggerating/spinning on one topic there's a reasonable chance he's lying/exaggerating/spinning on other topics. It's a reasonable point but I'm more inclined to judge on actions than words.
It's about his credibility/character. I know next to nothing about whats going on behind the scenes at Southampton other than what the club promote and the odd nugget from this forum. i do know from previous interviews Krueger has had that he is bullshitting a little on this topic, so you ask yourself what else is he exaggerating when it comes to Southampton. I'm not saying he is a Liar, Liar, pants on fire, but for me personally this acts as a warning
That's fair enough, but I just get annoyed when in an interview with loads of info, the potential negative gets highlighted. It could have been a comment at the end rather than the go to point of the interview. Some people like to wallow in negativity. I'm glad I'm not a "NegHead"
Clear shift in SFC's media strategy. We've gone from Cortese flying Jim White from Sky Sports News, Neil Ashton from the Daily Mail and Justin Allen from the Sun about... (oh and Ben Smith) ...to using Saints fans in the media like Simon Peach and Jeremy Wilson, as well as organisations like the Telegraph, the Guardian, the local paper and radio. It's something I approve of, for sure. You could even say letting Peach and Wilson get closer is risky, as they understand the situation and will 'press' more.
I don't understand why Krueger has been wheeled out to speak to the media just a week after the last time. I understand last week he had a point to prove and a very important message to portray, but outwardly it appears that not much has changed since that time, and Kruger coming out and giving us lots of propaganda just once again feels like he's saying things without really backing them up. I'd rather he came out to speak to the media when he had something important to say, rather than vague weekly updates.
He reads this forum every day and decided that all the impatient fans on here moaning we haven't signed anyone, needed some Krueger Time.
Wow, Tottenham bid £10 million for Schneiderlin. I'm not even sure, however much Poch wanted Schneiderlin, if Levy would pay anywhere near to our asking price.
