When he joined I think I remember him saying on a Canadian radio show that he had only had offers to coach in the back room staff but he only wanted to be a head coach

Well ... glad I asked the question rather than trying to pretend I actually knew ;-)

But we haven't got a brilliant crop coming through, its sad that not only most of the fans, but also the chairman seems to think we will once again be saved by a load of precocious talent spilling off the conveyor belt.
There's no magic, we should be very proud of some of the talents we have helped nurture, but to just expect it again & again isn't just daft....its dangerous.

We haven't? Are you sure about that?

First team squad: Targett, Reed, Prowse, Gallagher
Could get in the squad: McCarthy

Looking very good: Rowe,Sims,Debayo,Hesketh and more.

That he was offered assistant positions I can absolutely buy. That he has subsequently upgraded himself to having piles of head coaching offers is the bit I find dubious.

Me too, how he could suddenly go from back room staff to head coach after little to know involvement in the game since the winter olympics is a bit of a surprise. Trouble is when he lies or bends the truth on stuff like this then you can be concerned about other things too. We as always, await action.

Some wild suppositions going on here. See no reason why he couldn't have been offered jobs in hockey or why he would lie about it if he didn't.

Doubt he'd have been offered head coaching jobs because he was a pretty bad head coach, and that his story seems to have changed from being offered assistant and advisory jobs (which as Schad says is perfectly believable)

Schad's the resident Canadian anyway (or at least he lives in Canada?) so if he's doubtful then we should probably trust his judgement.

Because no one just gets randomly offered head coaching gigs without going through interviews. They particularly don't get randomly offered head coaching gigs in the middle of the season (before Krueger was officially announced but had joined up) or when they are employed elsewhere (as would have been the case when the hockey offseason began in June).

It's entirely possible that he was offered an interview somewhere for a head coaching job. But that's a long way from "teams are handing me job offers and I'm batting them away".

Agree with Schad, he could well have been offered interviews. So he might not be technically lying, but he has definitely applied his positive Krueger spin to it. He is a bit of salesman when it comes to the truth

Yeah, I don't mean it as a major black mark against him, but the above is Krueger in his entirety. He's a salesman, and "I feel so strongly about this project that I turned down the chance to take less money than I'm making now as an assistant coach" isn't as strong a pitch as "I feel so strongly that I turned down the chance to lead a highly attractive NHL team".

Tweets from Simon Peach - who interviewed Ralph Krueger earlier today:

Ralph Krueger believes it would have been an "insane risk" for #SaintsFC to keep a core of disgruntled players this summer

Krueger: "Contracts should be respected, first of all. You sign contracts and both sides need to respect contracts"

"There was a situation when there was so much change... & ended up with half of your starters not really committed to being there"

Krueger: "That is an insane risk for any club and especially a club which was already quite thin [in terms of depth] last year"

Krueger: "If a few players are disgruntled or maybe not sure about it, you can swallow that up. You can't have half the team"

#SaintsFC have not fined Schneiderlin for his tweet: "We're not the kind of club that right off the bat is going to overreact," Krueger said

On #SaintsFC's sales, Krueger said: "Every player has gone to an absolutely top club. We've received prices that were above expectations"

Krueger: "We are now on a building & not in a reducing phase. You shouldn't, as a club, take everything personally & we didn't"

Krueger believes this "summer of pain" at #SaintsFC is unlikely to ever be repeated thanks to the club's complete restructuring

Krueger: "We've completely redefined the Southampton way, completely redefined the values & how we want to get to where we want to get"

Krueger: "There was no exec board when I arrived. It can't be that if one person gets hit by a bus the club doesn't keep moving forwards"

This is fun stuff from Kruges in the Peach interview! "Summer of pain", people getting hit by busses? Great stuff!

This stuff from Peach is good, IMO. It seems honest and, ahem, fits my personal view of what happened. Therefore I believe it and all is well with the world.

Also, love all the bitterness towards MP. Good stuff.

"We prefer to see it as giving a chance to those who may have fallen on hard times. The Saints Work Reintroduction System will be just the revolutionary blue sky cross-media functionality integration that we really need to see the club through to the European challenge playoffs in the off-season."

I think it helps that Peach is a hardcore Saints fan who really 'gets' what has happened. Plus he's had a chance to speak privately with Ralph in the office.
