As it stands at the moment, Villarreal will get 35% of the fee, River Plate 35%, and Musacchio's agent the remaining 30% - and it's absurd that the player's agent has as much of a stake in the player as the club he's played at for the last four years.

There's also talk (on Twattle...) that Villarreal are appealing this arrangement so that they would instead be eligible to 75% of Musacchio's rights, which while that would be the ideal solution for the transfer to go through the question is how long it would actually take for the appeal to reach a verdict.

I'm not quite sure exactly who they would appeal to? Or how long it would take. As Villareal want a speedy conclusion, and nobody ever heard of an agent voluntarily giving away money!, it looks like a problem..

Add this one to the list with Damiao and Moutinho.
But Levy does like the challenge of Levying N different parties in one player transfer. :)

One suggestion is to do a double deal. So, how does £25m for Musacchio and GDS sound?

I'm not sure that GDS would think it was a good idea, despite what any of us may think...

Just as well, maybe. I thought Kaboul has looked good in Poch's system.

I'd pay a lot for the right deep lying passer, though not for Schneiderlin, who I don't think is an upgrade over Capoue. And now I'm not so sure. Could Holtby fill that role? I've thought he was crap in a deep lying role before, but he's been good in preseason.

I have mixed feelings about getting another striker as well. I have the feeling Adebayor, Soldado and Kane may be the right three. On the other hand, I'd hate to be one short. So I can see getting Bony, or, better, Rodriguez, especially because the latter is injured, and will give the three we have more of a chance to establish themselves.

I don't get the chasing around for defenders when I rate Kaboul and Chiriches. Kaboul has looked good in Poch's system. He's fast enough to get forward and even put in some crosses last year.

So all things considered, I'd take my chances on the team we have now, maybe with 2-4 subtractions. Dembele and Sandro look like they won't play much. Nor does Chadli. And it does look like Chiriches is on his way as well, little as I may like it. Add one more striker, probably, and check Walker to see if we need a right back.

Not sure about this one, I would have preferred he was playing in a higher division. Tony Parks was always very complimentary about Archer, but our new keeper coach doesn't seem so favourable towards him. Unfortunately for Archer, his chance to prove himself, disappeared when he caught a nasty virus on day one of the pre season tour and he had to be sent home. Apparently he lost over a stone in weight and only returned to training this week.

12. They obviously don't know that we blew the Bale money last season!

It's funny how drastically a player's career can change on the basis of one relatively minor thing happening.
Probably not funny haha in Archer's case, unfortunately. Harsh on him.
Northampton have Matt Duke on their books too, so it'll be interesting to see if he can dislodge him from the number 1 shirt, even if he's getting on a bit.

"We want £19m for Musacchio, Mr Levy."
"We're prepared to pay £17m."
"£50m it is, then!"
"...Have you been drinking?"

Yes, they forgot to mention that the "we" didn't include the money that the two third parties wanted. So, "we" want €19mil, but so does does River Plate, and his agent!....

About time FIFA banned third party ownership totally and set a maximum percentage for agents' fees.

I don't see the problem with Musacchio. We'll just buy a third of him, pay for a third of his wages and a third of his training fees. The other two can cover the rest.

It's like chipping in with your mates for a pizza.

Can't say I'm devastated.

I said I'd want Poch to be backed and trust his judgement but I personally really didn't see the value for money in JayRod and MS. I'd pay about £25m for the pair, Soton seem to want that for each, which is ridiculous in my opinion.
