WATFORD PREDICTION LEAGUE 2014-2015 RULES THREAD The rules are simple - predict the games, score points. Entry is restricted to Watford fans mainly plus a few "guests" who have posted regularly on the Hornets Board for some time. Entry is at my sole discretion and I reserve the right to exclude or remove posters for any reason I choose. Examples of the latter could be continuously posting silly predictions or posting by "guests" in a way that causes Hornet members to complain to me and request an exclusion. Predictions must be made before the deadline listed. The default rule for predictions is that the deadline is ONE HOUR BEFORE THE FIRST MATCH OF THAT WEEK. At my discretion I may accept a late prediction in special circumstances but do not rely on it. Posters need to check the matches each week as sometimes games are re-arranged for TV and so are played the day before - any prediction for any match made after the start of the match are obviously disallowed. The responsibility for knowing when matches kick off are down to the predictor - I will try to highlight the first kick off but do not rely on it. CHECK YOUR PREDICTIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE POSTING. AMENDMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED - ONCE POSTED THEY ARE CONSIDERED SUBMITTED. (The only partial exception to this is if in error a posting does not make sense (eg only a home score given - you may then correct the prediction at my discretion by adding in the missing scoreline) Once you have entered the league, you are in it for the season. You may cease predicting but your name will stay on the scoresheet. Entries copied from another will be void. These rules are subject to change (but probably won't). I am the one and only arbiter of the rules - any changes or waivers are at my discretion. Final rule - remember it’s just a bit of fun. SCORING is as follows: BASIC POINTS a) Predict the correct score = 20 points. e.g. You say it will be 0-1 and the score is 0-1 you will score 20 points. b) Correct prediction of a home win with the wrong scoreline = 3 points e.g. You say it will be a 2-0 home win but it is a 2-1 home win you will score 3 points. c) Correct prediction of an away win with the wrong scoreline = 5 points e.g. You say it will be a 0-1 away win but it is a 0-2 away win, you will score 5 points. d) Correct prediction of a draw with scoreline wrong is worth 9 points. e.g. You say it will be a 1-1 draw, but it is a 0-0 draw, you will score 9 points. e) Correct goal difference is worth an extra 5 points for home and away matches. e.g. You say it will be 0-1 and the score is 2-3 you will score 5 more points. EXTRA POINTS f) A unique correct scoreline prediction is worth an extra 25 points. e.g. You say it will be a 5-1 win, and you are the only person to correctly predict this scoreline, you will score an extra 25 points. g) Each week the person who scores the most points for that week will be given an extra 30 points. g) One point for predicting. By merely predicting you will score one extra point for each fixture predicted. h) Watford fixtures worth double. You may not post more than 4 identical predictions. Your LAST scoring prediction(s) of this kind will be made void. To clarify, for example if someone were to post five or more 1-0 home wins only the first four predictions will be entered. The League will be sorted from most to fewest points. Fixture changes. Your predictions stand for fixtures on or around the date for which you predicted them. If for example Sky coverage causes a fixture to move from a Saturday to the following Tuesday the match predictions stand. However if due to postponement a match is moved from e.g. November to March then all predictions for the earlier date become void and you can predict again when the match comes round. I will make clear when this happens what is to count. FUTURE PREDICTIONS THREAD (FPT) The future predictions thread is mainly for people going away on holiday etc who won't be around to predict "live". Anyone can use it though at any time. There will usually be matches listed for several weeks ahead. Predictions made on the Future Predictions Thread cannot be changed on there, once made they stand. However if you subsequently post new predictions on the actual matchday posting thread then those predictions will replace them and the future predictions will be ignored. So anyone who wants to make sure they do not accidentally miss a week can post on FPT. They can then change their mind and also post on the main Posting Thread - the main Posting Thread will always override the FPT if predictions are made in both.
Ive broken one of the rules already Leo. I managed to post before finishing all my predictions. I'll let you decide whether you allow them to stand.
You are safe on two grounds there Bloother. You have posted your predictions on the future postings thread - so you are always able to replace those with posts on the main posting thread if you want to. Secondly ( nobody does -) but it is allowed to post say 5 predictions one day and then the other 5 the next - what you cannot do is to replace one set of postings with another on the main thread. Changing posts on the future thread does not really matter but it means I could accidentally lift predictions when they are made and then not spot changes - if that happens then so be it - but I do try to take "real" predictions if I can.
The rules state that entries must be in before an hour before the first match each week - this week the Norwich game has been brought forward to tonight so the predictions for that must obviously be in before the game starts - however late posters who post other results tomorrow morning will still be OK
