Can't be too careful with concussion...there was a case recently where someone died after playing on who could have lived if taken off. In the end it's only a game.
you just can't take the risk. yes they may regain consciousness but there could be a bleed on the brain or something which could be fatal.
DTLW, can i just ask, what is it that you do? as you seem to have a lot of insider knowledge etc. Are you associated with the club?
I can already see some scandal when a player is or isn't substituted and it might have affected a games outcome. Don't get me wrong players should be protected but this will be almost certainly be used as an excuse by someone along the way.
Thank god. I kept bitching during the world cup about how players with head injuries being allowed to play on without questions being asked, and obviously it turned out a fair few of these were concussions. Now that we know the danger of concussions there's no excuse for letting them play on so it's about time a rule like this came in.
Drogba will be off every game. He is constantly holding his head laying down on the ground after every corner to stop the opposition counter attacking.
I was thinking Mourinho personally. However if this goes to lower leagues then i'll put a bet on Mick McCarthy.
Really, the dangers of repeated concussions have been known for quite some time but have been ignored by most sport. They were written about with regard to the NFL in the 70s and Dave Meltzer discussed their impact on combat sports extensively in the 80s. In my eyes this doesn't go far enough, and players should be getting an independent imPACT test near constantly. At least one a week. They don't pass? Then they go on a non-contact list until they do.
No, that looks far too dangerous. Needs netting around the bubbles and possibly a hi-vis vest too, with hazard lights
Every team has not only a captain, but a Health and Safety Inspection Officer, who can halt the game whenever they spot anything dangerous.
