Chico Flores age 27. Would be a money grabbing idiot for doing something like that to a career that hasn't reached it's potential yet. He should be aiming for a big club move next. I'd rather Chico flores than jan vertonghen or everton heitinga or even jagielka

    Reality:-

Swansea City's Kyle Bartley bids to see off Chico Flores and Jordi Amat in battle to face Manchester United
By South Wales Evening Post | Posted: August 05, 2014

KYLE Bartley is relishing the battle at the back as he bids to kick-start his Swansea City career by landing a start at Manchester United.

Chico Flores and Jordi Amat should return to contention when Swansea play their final pre- season friendly against Villarreal next Saturday.

But having started alongside Ashley Williams at Reading last weekend, Bartley hopes he will be preferred to the Spanish duo when Garry Monk picks his team on the opening day of the new Premier League campaign.

Bartley has endured a frustrating spell since arriving from Arsenal, making just four top-flight appearances in two years as a Swansea player.

And he said: "I want to play and I want to establish myself. First and foremost I have to continue to work well with the manager, with the assistant manager and with Ash and keep developing, and hopefully the rest takes care of itself.

"Everyone knows Ash has been one of our most consistent performers over the last few years so it is a case of fighting to play alongside him."

Flores is favourite to start alongside Williams at Old Trafford as he is the most experienced option and had the shirt at the end of last season.

But amid speculation linking the former Genoa player with a move away from the Liberty, there is some doubt about who Monk will go for in central defence.

Bartley, who was sent out on loan to Birmingham by Michael Laudrup before being brought back into the fold by Monk, believes he can win the fight to face Wayne Rooney and Co in 11 days' time.

"Obviously everyone wants to play and I am no different," he added.

"I am enjoying playing alongside Ash and if the manager thinks we have worked well together then it might give us the nod, but I have to keep working hard, focus on every day's training sessions and do my best."

If Chico leaves then we are looking at a situation that can be thought of as : those that can - leave, those that can't we have to rely on. From a club that attracts for reasons other than money, we are becoming a club that currently repels, and only brings in players chasing money. What did we pay Gomis and Montero. What have we promised Ki this time. What are we paying Sig. Or we bring in very young players who will come here because we are the best thing on their horizon regardless.

i hope Chico stays. he is our #1 defender. if he leaves the Prem for the Middle East then that is driven by something and i dont think it's money.

Bartley isn't better than Amat, and I don't consider Amat good enough over the whole season. If Chico goes Swansea needs to buy a first-choice centre back.

If Chico will leave, he'll go to rejoin his prior manager in 2 clubs, to get away from his brick-headed (couldn't help it) current manager and of course to triple his wages...

It could sound like they are pals the three of them and monk has his blinkers on. It's a real shame because amat and chico are really class players and would be a disaster not having them fit and happy in your squad. Imo it should be chico amat playing anyway.

You're completely correct of course. We should believe everything we read in the papers.

Thanks for putting me right on that. I'm enlightened.

All gone - loosing 2 of our better players in a season is a challenge but 5

    Probably on their way

    Bony
    Chico

    JdG ?
Ki publicly stating he wanted to stay in Sunderland
    Strong rumours Jonjo unhappy

    An ageing (but good RB)
Two of three CBs learning the trade - one injury prone.
LBs not good enough, back up RB - not good enough
    Leon injured
    Emnes injured

Bafe & Jeff - not yet played a game in the English leagues

A week and a half to the new season!

I've never known being this much of a shambles since the Petty days but at least that was off the field and players played for us.

But at least Ash got an improved deal and Monk is happy.
