    According to GFN France:

Lyon President Jean Michel Aulas has admitted he would be interested in welcoming Newcastle United winger Hatem Ben Arfa back to the club.

He had the following to say to our colleagues at RMC:

“Ben Arfa to make a return? If he is willing to make the necessary financial effort, why not?”

I'll be sad to see HBA go, not because of what he is now but rather because of what he could have been for us if he'd put the effort in. We should be all over the possibility of using HBA as an incentive for Lyon in any deal for Lacazette and/or Grenier.

It is sad and a waste of talent, but we will be the third club he has left under a cloud.

Erm, are we missing the obvious point that Grenier and Lacazette both play for Lyon?!

Unless HBA is willing to make "the necessary financial effort" he wont be off to Lyon.
So the sorry saga will drag on and on and on......

Well, they're not the most trustworthy but they get some things right and the Chronicle are reporting we're back in for Lacazette again. The Echo are reporting we are still after Grenier as well as Lacazette. Could be we will use HBA in a deal.

I think a deal with him and Grenier or Lacazette would be tremendous. We need both really, though I still think Lacazette is a risk in terms of guaranteeing goals. Last season was the first time he scored a few in France nevermind England. I'd be worried we have 5 strikers, none of them top 8 class but hoping we can squeeze top 8 goals out of the collective. Grenier on the other hand is pure class and is the missing piece in our midfield jigsaw. Add him to Anita, Tiote, Abeid, Colback, SDJ, Cabella, Sissoko, Gouffran, Aarons - I think look top class in that area.

I'll be happy to see HBA go now but I do think its a massive shame that he has chosen the path he has. He could have been a legend here, but leaves having achieved absolutely zero. For a lad with his natural talent that is criminal. Sadly it is entirely self inflicted.

He is 27. This should be the point in his career when daft rumours linking him to Real Madrid start floating about, not when he can't get a game in the premiership.

I'm not really sure that there are more than a dozen players in the Prem and La Liga combined who have more talent than him. Unfortunately, he seems ot have adopted Kluivert as his role model

If as it appears the relationship between HBA and the club has broken down past the point of repair then he really needs to go sooner rather than later . It is a crying shame that such a talent is wasted yet again. The club ought to work hard to find a deal that sees him move on, even if it means taking a huge hit financially.
Even though HBA will be on the fringes, any disgruntled player hanging around the club like a bad smell is not good for anyone concerned. I for one will be very sad to see him go, as others have rightly said he could have been an absolute legend on Tyneside.
Any deal that sees him go and another useful player come in to replace him is probably hoping for to much, personally l think he will dig in and run his contract down then leave for free.
    Fingers crossed something will materialise

Remy would be the safest option as he is Premier League proven, but Lacazette is younger so potentially has a larger resale value. Lacazette is also likely to sign for less wages. French football experts all seem to rate Lacazette very highly, some going as far as to describe his potential as 'huge'. Add all these things up and despite his only having had one really successful season I could see MA preferring the gamble.

Aye Remy is the guarantee. Like you say we are more likely to look at sell on value.

I just wish we'd forget all about Remy, he's snubbed us too often and I believe using us a final fallback. I lost all respect for him when he refused to play for us in our last games.

I have also gone off the boil on Remy, he's had plenty of chances this summer to head our way and doesn't seem all that bothered. I'd much prefer our efforts were focused elsewhere, even if it is just a stepping stone to a bigger club for whoever comes in.
